I have black sand in my biocube. the pros are it looks great when its clean. the cons are that certain grains do stick to magnets, the shiny parts, and it does have to be kept clean. the white sands can hide the detritus and poo and stuff. the black sand can't. on a side note, i just upgraded to an epoxied black sand. this got rid of the magnet issues along with the high flow issues i was having. and since every grain is encased in epoxy, not nitrate/phosphate issues.
Where did you find the black sand that doesn't have the magnet issue

I'm thinking about mixing this with some white sand. Anyone ever used it. I heard the Hawaiian sand sticks to metal but nothing about this one

Yeah my 38 has white to. I'm looking at 40 pounds of white and 20 of black for my 93

I've read that. Is that all black sand or just certain kinds? What about mixing black and white together?

I agree. I did the diy before and although it's cheaper and decent in my opinion it's an eye sore. I want my set up to look clean.

Just received my new rock from reefcleaners. Looks good will have pics later today. I also just spent some money to update my MP10wES to the quiet drive so I'm pretty excited about that. Supposed to create more flow and less sound. Plus the black looks a lot better.

I'm looking into getting a bio reactor but there are about three that I like and can't decide between. Right now I have a TLF to run my GFO and it does well for me. I'm looking into either getting a reef octopus, hydra aquatics, or just staying with a TLF one.
What do you guys use?

I'm currently working on a custom ATO container through www.melevsreef.com. If you guys haven't heard of them check them out they have been really helpful and their work looks good.

Right now I'm converting from a 38 to this 93. My main concern right now is to make my sump area look clean and nice. My tank now is running well but my sump area is a little eye sore due to the clutter and diy projects.

I can't wait either. Thanks again man
