  1. Anyone know of a good article or video on closed loop circulation basics? Thanks, Ben
  2. I am in Norfolk for work for a few days, what shops should I hit up while down here. I will only be able to visit 1-2 so please, only the best in your opinion. Thanks Ben
  3. I have always read that 1-1.5 lbs per gallon of live rock should be in a reef tank. I look at all the tank build threads and see other people's very successful reef tanks and it looks like they have a much smaller amount then the ratio suggests. Am I missing something, is there a better rule of thumb? Thanks, Ben
  4. I would like to see the potter angel, and find out how close you are. Bensamos@vt.edu Thanks
  5. Sump is a 45 gallon tank with refugium, aquac ev180 with mag9.5, BRS media reactor with Carbon and GFO, and a eheim 1262 return pump.
  6. I have 120 gallon tank with a 45 gallon sump and about 170 lbs of live rock between the DT and sump. I am currently looking to finalize my stock list for the tank. Would my tank be overstocked if I went with the following list: -Yellow Tang -Kole Tang -Pair Ocell Clowns -Pair of Lubbocks Wrasses -Cleaner Wrasse -Yellow Corris Wrasse -Pygmy Angel -Swallowtail Angel -3 Red Firefish -4 Dispar Anthias -Royal Gramma -2 Blue Neon Gobys Let me know this would be overstocked for my tank. Thanks
  7. Have you had good success with the Photon48? Did you use there premade light arrangement or did you make your own?
  8. I guess the question is, should I wait for a group buy to pick up a IT2080, or should I buy a Photon48 which is 48" vs 36"? Are the standard light builds decent, or should I create my own light setup? Thanks
  9. I like the idea of a single evergrow IT2080 or two d120s, I just missed the group buy... joined wamas last week. I found a decent deal on new A150W which is why I was thinking of getting them. Without the group buy price, it would work out to be about the same cost to buy 3 kessils. I've also thought about getting 2 120W BridgeLux lights of one Photon48 light set from ReefBreeders, I believe these are the same as the evergrow lights?
  10. I was thinking of replacing my MH lights with a pair of 15000K Kessil A150Ws. I have a 120 gallon (4x2x2), and I was wondering if two would be enough for LPS and soft corals, or should I get three? When I want to start adding SPS, would I need to add a third/fourth? Is 15000K the color I want for overall coral growth and color, or would 10000K be better? Thanks
