    MAMAS has worked directly with the Hampton Inn Chesapeake to get a special rate for out of town guests. Located less than a mile from our new venue in Chesapeake, The Hampton Inn offers breakfast, a pool and is just minutes from the Greenbrier area which is packed with restaurants and shopping locations. Rooms with both King and Double arrangements will be available for $75 a night. Contact the hotel directly at 757-420-1550 to grab your room at a discount. Be sure to mention the Mid-Atlantic Marine Expo rate with MAMAS when you call.

    The Mid-Atlantic Marine Aquarists Society (MAMAS) would like to invite the 4th Annual 2016 Mid-Atlantic Marine Aquarium Expo (MAMAX) located in Chesapeake, VA on October 8, 2016 from 10:00am-4:00pm. MAMAX is a charitable fundraising event for reef related causes. Proceeds are donated to a charity selected by you, the attendees.
     
    MAMAX is an opportunity for reef aquarists in the mid-atlantic region to come together for a day of saltwater hobby exposure, education, conversation, contests and family fun. With over 30 vendors from across the country, raffles, a kid zone, presentations and contests throughout the day, we have something for everyone.
     
    General admission is just $8 online until 10/1/2016 and kids 12 and under are free. You can purchase tickets at the door the day of for $10. Limited quantities of VIP tickets will be available as well! VIP tickets get you into the event a FULL HOUR EARLY at 9am before general admission to meet vendors, cherry pick coral and pick up exclusive deals. You’ll also get a t-shirt, MAMAS stickers, 25 Raffle tickets as well as vendor swag and exclusive deals!!!!! That’s a $75 value for only $45.

    Virginia Beach, VA – The Mid-Atlantic Marine Aquarists Society ( MAMAS ) has announced its 2015 proceeds will be donated to The Coral Restoration Foundation ( www.coralrestoration.org ) based on votes by the attendees of its annual marine charity event, MAMAX. Based in Key Largo, Florida, The Coral Restoration Foundation creates offshore nurseries and restoration programs for threatened coral species in the Florida Keys and the Caribbean.

    Due to the amount of inquiries we have had this past few weeks, we have decided to put the general admission tickets online as well. You can still get tickets at the door but for those of you coming form out of town we're adding this option so that you're sure to get in. We have a handful of VIP tickets left as well with just 2 weeks to go!

    I know it's an incredible amount of work to organize and put this on. Where is WAMAS with the volunteer schedule / list and do you ned help with it? I ask because we're just a few weeks away and I'm sure, like myself, people need to give notice to take off. Do we have an ETA for organizing the days prior at a minimum? I'm happy to help with volunteer scheduling.

    Parking

    Attendees and exhibitors staying at the Marriott Wardman Park may receive a discounted daily self-parking rate of $30 (regularly $42). Be sure to let the Marriott registration clerk know that you are part of the conference and are using the reduced rate when you check into your room. The hotel has two parking garages. Height limitations are 5'10" for the Park Tower garage and 6'4" for the Woodly Garage.

     

    For attendees not staying overnight: We've partnered with Parking Panda to allow you to pre-purchase guaranteed parking passes at several locations within easy walking distance to the hotel. Options include pre-paid parking at the hotel, too, for as little as $19/day. These passes are not valid for overnight stays, though!
