The Mid-Atlantic Marine Aquarists Society (MAMAS) would like to invite the 4th Annual 2017 Mid-Atlantic Marine Aquarium Expo (MAMAX) located in Chesapeake, VA on September 23, 2017 from 10:00am-4:00pm. MAMAX is a charitable fundraising event for reef related causes. Proceeds are donated to a charity selected by you, the attendees. This year's date has been moved up by a few weeks from our normal October timeframe due to venue availability. MAMAX is an opportunity for reef aquarists in the mid-atlantic region to come together for a day of saltwater hobby exposure, education, conversation, contests and family fun. With over 30 vendors from across the country, raffles, a kid zone, presentations and contests throughout the day, we have something for everyone. General admission is just $8 online until 09/1/2017 and kids 12 and under are free. You can also purchase tickets at the door the day of for $10. Limited quantities of VIP tickets will be available for $40 as well! VIP tickets get you into the event a FULL HOUR EARLY at 9am before general admission to meet vendors, cherry pick coral and pick up exclusive deals. MAMAS, a charitable organization based around sustainability, would like to announce our recent collaboration with local VA artist, Reba McConnell. MAMAS commissioned 2 paintings to help raise money for this year's fundraising efforts, that we will be using on shirts and fine prints available at MAMAX in October. Please note these are only mocks, but we’re working with one of the best screen printers in the area to produce these shirts with a high leave of detail. Shirts should be available in approximately 2-3 weeks. We're taking preorders for a limited quantity of $30ea (includes shipping) and after which they will only be available at MAMAX. All proceeds benefit marine charities like The Coral Reef Foundation and The Coral Reef Alliance. This has been an issue with the hotel reservations. I'm sorry for the trouble. I spoke with them today. They had us under "tradeshow" and not "MAMAX" or "MAMAS" so when people were asking for the rate they were getting transferred around until it hit voicemail. They have added the name to the notes.
