    Coral

Ok as most of you know netpez and I have been slowly working on our new Reef Tank. The Red Sea Max has been up and running since the mid to end of July and our water test have been perfect for over a month now. Original thread on our tank http://www.wamas.org/forums/topic/51396-red-sea-max-a-beginners-step-into-a-whole-new-world/ We added 3 Green chromis on 8/19 (due to a reccomendation from LFS, a little early for the tank but the fish have done great) We added cleaner crew (snails and hermit crabs around 8/26/12) (also I returned the White spotted hermit that we thought was a Halloween) We added a fighting conch on 8/30/12 (to sift the sand bed) Last we added 2 Ocellaris black & White Clownfish and 2 Ocellaris (orange) Clownfish on 9/1/12 So far everyone is doing great and the tank is still running awesome. We are starting to see a little Coralline Algae growing. So now to my question when should we add a pice of coral and what is a good hearty coral to start with? Should we add more fish first? Or where would you go from here. I know we need another good sand sifter. We really want a Blue Mandarin Goby but LFS said our tank needs to be stable for at least 6 months for him. Thoughts and Suggestions?
  3. Thanks! This is my husbands tank (pez). He did send me to the LFS for hermits and snails and of course I bought them but there was a cute Halloween Hermit that I had to have. I goggled him quickly and he is reef safe and friendly so he came home too. I am an impulse buyer which I know is wrong with a salt water tank. I go for looks and personality. All 6I fur kids are my responsibility and they all chose us so I have no idea where to start when we start socking the tank. I like everything and I have never seen an ugly SW tank.
  4. We are just finishing our cycle and no absolutely nothing about this stuff. I look at something and go he is cute LOL just by color and personality so I am looking to see what others would do and compare notes.
  5. If you could do a new dream 65G what would you put in it? What fish? What corals? What cleaner crew? Any why
  6. He only had the bad photos of the Button Polyp, and the Homotrema Rubrum so they are the only two we know. The green sponge thing, the brown thing, the tube/leaf looking thing are all new. Also the last one is a white grayish sponge looking thing and it is growing across the rock. I am not sure how to describe some of these things nor the lingo. Give me furry kids or football and I am good but the aquarium stuff I turn into a dumb blonde. I wish they had a class Salt Water Aquarium 101.
  7. Coral Hind stated this is a button polyp (once again photo was not that great) White Gray sponge like thing 65 Gal Red Sea Max as a whole Thank you everyone again we really appreciate your help. Also if anyone is near downtown Leesburg and would like to stop by to see the tank and make reccomendations. We are definately up for it. We are still trying to figure out if we are reading water samples correctly, protein skimmer issues, etc etc
  8. Hi I was playing around with taking photos of the aquarium and thought I would post some of the photos for a few reasons. 1 Can you help ID some of these and tell us if they are good or bad and 2 any additional tips on my photo skills to get better quality photos of the tank. Thanks Pez and I are trying to do this right and we need a little hand holding and help. Is this Brown Algae Color did not come through right but it is Lime green No clue Red spots everywhere (Coral Hind thought it was this Foraminiferans like a Homotrema rubrum in some not that great photos I posted)
  9. Thank you! Give me a furry child and I know who what when where and how but this salt water thing is brand new. We were hoping to come out and meet some of y'all on Sunday at the Frag event to gain knowledge (Even though we are not there yet) but with a tailgate the night before and the next the following Wed I am not sure we can make it.
  10. Are any of those bad?
  11. We also have a few things growing on our rock that we are not sure what it is. Here are a few photos:
  12. All good we understand just hit us up when it is good for you.
  13. Thank you everyone for all the responses. We are so confused and still trying to figure this all out. We do have about 40lbsthe live and 40lbs dead rock in from day one.
  14. Here are some photos I took with my real camera that might give y'all a clearer idea of the set up: Rock Aquascape Starting to fill with water Filled with water
