Not a huge cat fan, but I feel a deep connection with this one emoji38.png

I was never a cat person, but now ended up with 4. They were supposedly intended as barn/shed cats to control field mice from my property, but now house cats and 8 meals/day + clean up nightly chores. Can't win with the wife and kids. ;). But they are cute!

That looks incredible! Love the sway.

    Thanks

  2. Bryan, are you using the pvc pipe as drain or this going onto a pump (pressure)?
i usually cut it with a oscillating saw and trimmed the end. Just eye ball it, not perfectly straight but pretty good clean cut

I use pvc glue if the pipe is used on the pump side. pipe and use silicone on the drain side.

Chuck what do you use? I’ve used it more times than I can remember and never had an issue. Willing to bet (right or wrong) that I’m not the only one :). I only wrap the thread a couple times and very tightly. The issue is when people add too much tape and over tighten. I have also used pipe thread sealant in the past.

I prefer to glue joints in most cases.

I don’t use anything on the thread. For bulkheads, I put a small beads of silicone on the inside of the tank for added security. Other than that, hand tight threaded pvc and 1/4”+ with a wrench.

Here is the info link to pvc fittings.

  4. wow! 4 weeks is pretty long time to be away from a tank, esp. a nano. I usually have auto feeder and large ato reservoir with enough water for 2 weeks. but I have a large system (450 gallons).

IMO, your best option would be getting a maintenance company. I'd not ask my friend to take care of my tank for that long. you will likely end up losing a friend  Good luck!.

Since it’s living tissue is on the outside you could attempt to simply scrub it with a stiff brush but the little flakes that break off would probably grow elsewhere so perhaps break those off first and then scrub down whatever is left.  I would think (not sure of this) that you would kill it off this way and leave behind the nice blue skeleton for other corals to grow over.  Maybe test this out on a small piece?

    Thanks,

I'll give it a try when I get a chance. Spring is around the corner and I have tons of want to do projects.

  6. Thanks guys!

it’s pretty large 10-12” across just that section. There are ton more in other areas.
It’s going to be a whole lot of epoxy?.  I’ll try razor blade and scrap some off first and nip out with bone cutter and then epoxy. It’s going to be a pain to get to it as I am right-handed and the darn area only accessible from the left side.

  7. I never thought of ever having to kill coral in my tank but the heliopora got super invasive and starting to take over my tank. I can manually cut off the corals and prevent for spreading to other. However, this one is a bit tricky.
anyone has ideas on how to kill part of the heliopora that spreading into the sunset monti without having to remove the rock and nip them off?

4 months later: grow super slow and strange. Still have no idea what it is. Hopefully it survive and won’t died like many other acros that I had.

Very Nice Chuck!  I’m planning on starting an anemone tank as well... currently finishing up my 125g cube build... my Sherman anemones are currently being held in a 55g tank.

Looking to add a black widow variant like yours as well when I’m done.
