  1. I haven't checked those, I will though. Last time I was at marine scene I didn't like the ones they had. Years ago they were really nice tho.
  2. Did you try yourself yet? I've cut glass myself with no prior experience and found it pretty easy. might want to give it a try.
  3. Has anyone tried bulk reef supply?? Thoughts?
  4. Where do you recommend? Looking for nice encrusted rocks.
  5. Just curious, why the gate valve? Cause ball valves get stuck? Also, if I am using a off the shelf overflow (synegry/ghost) won't that prevent me from using a larger emergency drain? thanks! also thanks to sublime for posting his thread on the overflow process.
  6. i haven't seen a screen top that I like yet. I would like to find one so I can get different fish. I had two hawkeyes jump out then stopped getting them.
  7. I got the quote back from reef savvy, and their prices are pretty competitive with SCA and others I've got quotes from so far. I'm going to check out coast to coast next
  8. Thanks for all the tips!! I will go with the beananimal on my next setup. any hints, lessons learned, or pitfalls that need to be avoided?
  9. thanks. can you describe the "right bubble trap"? I'll look into the synergy as well. thanks
  10. thanks. I am going custom so it's not an issue for me, but good point. requires more space from the pipes coming out the back and three draining in the sump? So is it fair to say it's more suited for larger aquariums? can you discuss some of the design considerations that might reduce space required? has anyone tried the ghost overflows from reefsavvy?
  11. anybody using one? How do you like it? discuss pros and cons here. I am thinking about this approach in my dream 210 build. thanks
  12. yeah ok. 3k, I really hate advertising a high price just to show a fake sales price. anyway, I will give coast to coast a call and see how they compare to sca. ^ so did you end up buying the sca? Are you happy? Thanks!
  13. Thanks for the inputs. I just got a quote from miracles. I really like the ghost overflows from Reef Savvy, anybody has any experience with those or the beananimal approach? thanks! SCA looks nice too, but their just tanks are really expensive. A 210gal for $4800?? Why? The miracles has starphire glass as well and is custom sized. just curious
  14. very cool! Did your main lights come on just before 4p and go off at 12? what about your Refugium?
  15. The rest of that paragraph went on list all the mitigating factors. Anyway, I popped many along the way but did just before water changes. My goal was to get out every piece I can see until no matter how many I had to pop along the way -- i wasn't even that careful about it. three weeks in and they are all but a few pieces here and there. Much better than fretting about popping them. but that's just my expierence.
  16. Yeah, I agree that the popping doesn't spread it. But I did a 30% water change right after each aggressive removal just to hedge!
  17. I've been pretty successful in the war. Water changes with manual removal of bubbles. Army of emerald crabs. Mostly the manual removal, like everynight staying on top of getting out every piece you can. I'm two weeks in the war and only see a little here and there - but I will keep the fight up. I'm feeling confident now. I was about to break the tank down and sell about a month ago.
  18. which brings up another point. I was never really big on Acrylic tanks, what's the +/- on that vs glass? Thanks!
  19. Thinking about getting a new aquarium around 200gal. Been a while since I bought a new one and was wondering what the opinions are on the different brands/styles. thanks
  20. ^ Agree. Would never buy livestock from them. Everytime I stop by I see at least 1 floater, 1 tang with bad HLLE, and many that just seem lethargic. Too bad. I wish they would hire a livestock manager that knew what they were doing.
