  1. Here's mine....just for ideas. I do like the mosaic look also. Hope they help. Basement FTS Side shot of Molding with some ripped strips of MDF behind it to make it flush to the tank Back (I had cloth all the way around until I realized that you can see through the sides from the front anyway)
  2. I went to the fabric store and bought a nice piece of black fabric that was big enough the cover the back and sides of the tanks, then I put velcro sticky strips around the edge of the tank and sewed some to the black fabric. Now I can take it off when doing maintenance and put it on when done.
  3. Mine is an in wall also. I moved the couch out and got a few club chairs instead. What I found was everyone was climbing all over the couch to see the tank (including me), so I cleared out the front so that I could actually walk up to the tank and see it. As far as molding, just get some wider pieces and glue/ brad nail a strip of 1x on the inside of the molding to fill the gap between the front of the tank and the wall. I can PM you pics if you need a visual.
  4. +1 on the Glass Holes overflow. Drilling the glass is easier than people make out, just go slow and set your clutch on the drill all the way down (lowest setting)so that if it binds up it doesn't crack the glass.
  5. Yeah, my next tank will definitely be bare bottom. I've also seen someone use an epoxy/ sand mix spread on starboard. After it cures it looks just like sand. Make sure you don't plan on keeping any livestock that needs sand. The only reason I still have sand now is because of my large melanarus wrasse.
  6. I also went through a bad case of dinos. Strangely enough Microbe Lift special blend seemed to knock them out. I tried lights out for five days and they just came back 3 weeks later (BTW lights out for dinos means tank wrapped in black trash bags) . I used the microbe lift and it wiped them out. Also if you dose solid carbons (i.e. vodka) it will get worse. I think someone said this, but water changes will make it worse also. I would try the microbe lift, it's only a couple bucks and it definitely can't hurt. I will warn you that it stinks BAD, I would do it when no one will be home for a while. Smells like dirty skimmer x10
  7. Pics if you have them would be good, but if it's gelidium a tang should do the trick (zebramosa, and acanthurus) attack that stuff. I used to have it in my nano which was difficult because the tank wasn't big enough for a tang. Your run of the mill critters won't touch it. plus it will get out of control quick.
