  1. I am moving and wish to donate a complete 28 gal Nano-Cube LED with all pumps, heaters, everything to bring it back to life. CAVEAT: This tank crashed a year ago to a massive bubble algae attack and will need to be lovingly scrubbed, soaked and put back in service.  I am moving and not really able to do much to help.  I'll include the RODI unit and the HOB skimmer that I bought to go with it.  There is also a ton of supplies, other pumps, a bucket of salt, feeders, etc. to go with it.  Really need someone to come get it this coming week, promised to be out of this apt by mid-month.  Probably easily $1000 worth of stuff at Retail.

In Montgomery Village MD, corner of Walkers Choice & Mont. Vill. Avenue.

If no school wants it, then will donate to a young person with a school id and a note from parent stating there isn't much way (s)he'll get one otherwise. ($$)

    Thanks WAMAS

  2. My 29 gallon AIO is a complete bubble algae garden. Went berserk after I tried to eradicate a small patch and OBVIOUSLY did it wrong.  Is there any hope for this tank or should I crash it and start over?

    Thx WAMAS

  3. I did read somewhere that it's best to put them in at night (lights off) to give them a chance to sneak into the rock work so the fish don't eat them up on the way down.

  4.  I just pulled about 80lbs out of my tank last weekend that is drying on my deck I'd be willing to sell.

I agree with ReefAddict.  Most members will sell rock much cheaper than you can get it anywhere else.  Every time I need some I start looking at vendors, get freaked out over what they have to charge for it, and end up buying from a member.

  5. What specific pump model did you buy?  I have a need for a really small pump.  Thx in advance

Just ordered an Eheim compact pump from Marine Depot.  This will fit in the back chamber of the Fluval spec 3 replacing the stock pump and flows 80gph.  Just thought I would share since it took me a while to figure out a pump that would.  Dimensions are 2.1" x 1.4" x 2".... Gotta love those germans

  6. Thanks.  All of that happened to that old bag of salt. My kids say I'm cheap, I say I'm "frugal." ;>

I have new salt, I'll do a water change this weekend.  Thx

It could be "bad" salt if it mixes to incorrect levels. This is more likely from salt that has settled or has been exposed to moisture. I usually mix new bags/buckets to help minimize this. Also, look out for salt that has hardened. It's typically a good practice to test the levels of your water from a new batch of salt. I some cases the salt mix can be defective, but I think this is less likely.

  7. Bad Salt?  Is there such a thing?  It IS the last of a quite old bag that was left over...

I started a new tank and the pH reports way low and the alkalinity is way high.  I have fresh. I'll do a water change this weekend. thx

  8. Take a two week period and monitor what is happening in the tank; use that data to calculate what your tank actually needs and proceed from there. If this need is greater than what you're able to provide, look into automation but if at all possible, do the dirty work yourself. It literally is a matter of life and death.

I loved this comment ... could you expound on that?  What does this mean? Test frequently for two weeks to get a feel for water chemistry changes? Thx in advance.

  9. I use aqua lifter as well. However, despite its name it can't lift water very well. I'm not surprised it's not working for you @ 30".

That is my thought as well.  I'm going to pull it out and do the testing I should have done. Thx all.

  10. I'm a Reef Angel junkie so it's custom built by me using their float valves to a 4 gallon reservoir and I need a pump to push water thru 1/4 tubing.  It has to push water about 30 inches.  The pump I bought is a Toms Aqua Lifter but the water just drips out. Too much head room? Too small pump?

  11. How do you guys deploy\attach\use cheato in your sumps?  My buddy wants to hang a few lites and use cheato in his new HUGE sump.  The sump is subdivided into LARGE chambers but I have hoping to contain it in some way and not just do free-float.  Let us know your thoughts.

    Thx

  12. YHSublime, or anyone that knows... these kits come with everything you need?  Some of the descriptions are not very descriptive of what exactly is in the box. I know enough to ask about the template and making sure i have a new or mostly new drill bit but i worry about some of the little piece parts that create the siphon, the emergency, or whatever that third one is called that go into that outside box.

Call me a worrier...appreciate any experience provided.  Thx
