  1. I hope I am getting calcium reactor today so I wonder where can I fill the CO2 tanks up in NO VA, preferably close to Ashburn?
  2. I am sorry Roni. I mistakenly took your forum status for your name. ... I guess I'll be posting WTB topic very soon. BTW are those 3/4 returns and 1" drain are too small for 175g? Should I try to drill them out to let's say 1 and 1.5?
  3. Urchin, Did you use T4 with dual return lines? I also just read that they can add some heat to the water. Did you notice that?
  4. Aren't those Eheims a bit too small to drive dual return line at 6'? Also to the topic of external vs. internal. What are the advantages and disadvantages of either one? I was thinking that external pump would transfer less heat to the water. Is that true? I hope not to use cooler as it adds a lot of noise and power consumption. What else?
  5. I am building 175 gallon bowfront that will be sitting in living room with all equipment in its stand. So I need really quiet return pump. I guess external pump is the way to go. But it will be my first external pump so I am clueless which brands / models work well. I currently run Mag 5 on 29 biocube which is noisy. I guess partially due to rigid PVC plumbing. New tank is Oceanic bowfront and has two Megaflow overflows with one 3/4" and one 1" bulkheads in each. I the pump needs to keep up with that. I guess return is like 5-6' high. I read that a lot of people use Dart. How are those Velocity T4? Are they powerful enough?
  6. Hey extreme_tooth_decay, what kind of sand is that? It looks like a mix of something. Obviously those large grains are not a problem for goby. Right? I use CaribSea Dry Aragonite Fiji Pink Reef sand. I enjoy clean white sand now, but it really bugs me that it is everywhere in water column. So I am considering something with larger grains.
  7. Hmm it looks like the price was really good.
  8. So are they cheaper them bying online? I bought 48x48x0.25 sheet online last year for about $100.
  9. No not yet. I found about them yesterday, but also read somewhere here on a forum that they no longer work with private individuals. I wonder if that's the true.
  10. It seems like I always had green algae on my sand until I got diamond gody. He cleaned sandbed within a week and now even ventures to watchman goby territory once in a while. The only problem is that I have very fine sand so it is flying everywhere along with micro pieces of detritus that goby lifts from the bottom. The only time when water is crystal clear now is in early morning when he's still asleep. And I guess there could be an issue if rock is placed on a sand since goby digs holes everywhere under it. I also have some nassarius (and other) snails and sand sifting starfish. They did not really resolve the algae issue. But startfish it looks like cleaned the sand off anything that was alive in it. I do not see any worms or pods on the sand anymore. Which I think is not really a good thing. I even thought about taking starfish to LFS for a credit. But then I am upgrading to 175G so I kept it for now thinking it will have more room to play in 175 and maybe my sand will not be as dead over there as it is now.
  11. I also would like some acrylic sheet for a sump. I think I will need a 48" x 48" sheet, 1/4" or 3/8" thick if it is cheaper than ordering online let's say from ridoutplastics.
  12. I'll talk to Sean. I bought few corals from him before, did not realize they sell tanks as well since their place is a bit small. I have also seen that 175 in Superpetz. My wife looked scared when we have seen that one. :-) it's actually good example why ordering non local is attractive. Look that tank was like $2k in the store, but it is around $1k in places like here http://www.cheappetproducts.net/175_REEF_READY_BOW_FRONT_AQUARIUM_BLACK_OAK-P52402.html
  13. Hi everybody, I have heard a lot of good things about WAMAS and finilly joined yesterday. I have joined the hobby less than a year ago with 29G BioCube, then I have built a sump for it in stand. It is all been running fine. Although it is just 29G in display so it is very limited to what kind of fish we get and PC light is not really powerful enough to keep most of SPS corrals. In other words I am ready for an upgrade. I have place in the living room large enough to fit 175G wide one. So I am looking for a tank, I thing in range of 90 - 175G preferable glass bowfront ones. I wonder where is the good place to buy the tank of that size locally? I am in Ashburn, VA. I guess buying local would be more economical due to shipping charges. Correct me if I am wrong. Thank you, Oleg
