  1. Thanks for the recommendation. Looks like it would cover most the tank so I could move things around to ensure everything is getting the right amount of light. And it can work with the Apex VDM which goes with helping me control things through my phone/one interface.
  2. Currently they are hanging so would be seen.
  3. Howdy, I'm looking to replace my, starting to fail, original LED lights. Currently I have two units over the tank. I have a 180 72"x24"x24" tank that I would like to keep clams, LPS, Zoa's and softies. Currently it is some LPS, Zoa's and softies. From the what I've been seeing it looks like 2-3 fixtures would be needed to give the proper coverage. Since fixtures can range from $200-800 for a single unit, I was trying to figure out the best lighting solution that would be around 1k or under. I would appreciate any suggestions or advice. Thanks!
  4. I'm considering setting up a Mantis shrimp tank or converting my 180g into a Mantis tank and wanted to talk to anyone local that has a Mantis shrimp and possible check out what sort of set up they are running. Brian
  5. Howdy! I'm down in silver spring myself!
  6. Howdy, I joined recently since I'm moving into the area. I could really use some suggestions on how to handle my upcoming move... I'm closing on selling my old house on July 29th but it doesn't look like I'll be in my new place to set up the tank again until the early part of September. At this point.. I was giving thoughts to just setting up some totes in a temporary place with one of my LED fixtures and just trying to keep things alive for a month+ or should I just sell the contents and set up when I'm back in a stable place.. I would hate to give up the tank for even a few months since I've had this one set up for 6 years and have some nice colonies, clam and fish I would like to keep.. but not sure how likely I would be able to keep them in temporary housing.. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, Brian
  7. I like the melting look. Is Canon XTI a phone? I'm out of touch of who's in the phone business these days and who isn't!
  8. I could use some actually. Also, you might want to slow down with adding things to your tank. The eagerness to rush in will cause problems. What are your parameters? You probably need to do a few water changes to try to balance things out.
  9. All are taken with my first gen Droid until I get a real camera with a water proof case.

  11. I would probably, just to be safe, tell them the size of tank you were thinking about getting. I had similar rules for an old apartment but they thought we I said fish tank it was going to be a 20-30g thing.. not 65. I could tell they weren't happy about that once they learned it was there. I don't know any way to test the floors except to put things on it till it cracks!
  12. Welcome to the board. I'm pretty new to WAMAS but have been with CMAS for a few years. There are a lot of reefers around E.C and I'm down in Columbia. If you want some orange or green monti cap frags or kenya tree frags let me know!
  13. My reef tank has become my little zen garden as I clean it, argue with the RBTA's that move to sit on the latest frags, and plucking the tomato clown in the head when he comes trying to nip at me as I clean. I am trying to get to the point where I stop messing with the tank.. in the past few months I have been move PH's around to see about improving flow, pulling out some rocks, breaking up a few colonies, adding a few frags. I want to let the tank grow and settle in but it's so hard to keep my hands out! My current set up is 120 dual overflow through a wall to a 40g sump of live rock and skimmer. I have a lot of live rock.. a bit too much but I'm resisting the urge to re-aqua-scape everything right now... Must... Resist.... For flow Mag 7 and 2 koralia 4, 2 Evolution 1400, and 1 Koralia 3. I'm tempted to say either I have too much flow or haven't figured out how to use the flow the best way.. but things seem pretty happy. I have a 30g rubbermaid can for the Tzune ATO w/ Kalk. In the last few weeks I have raised my 2 250w 14k phoenix + 2 T5HO actinic lights fixture up to about 18" inches above the water line and everything in the tank seems much happier.. even the clam that has decided to camp out in the middle of a zoa colony. Livestock: I am trying to figure out if I want to add any more fish.. luckily I'm good a resisting impulse buys on fish.. not so much on corals :-P 1 Yellow tang 2 damsel (one blue devil, one stripped) 2 tomato clowns 1 coral beauty 1 algae benny 2 banggai cardinalfish 1 yellow watchman goby (hiding at the back of the tank for now) 2 fire shrimp 2 skunk cleaner shrimp 2 serpent stars 1 Crocea Clam 7 RBTA's Mix of snails.. just ordered a restock about a dozen blue legged hermits.. and one big red one.. I thought it was a scarlet but didn't think they got that big.. seems pretty harmless bristleworms and the normal expected hitchhikers Corals: Most are just past the frag stage but not yet a decent size colony.. (Except for the Monti's) but they are getting there ORA red planet Purple Milli Sunrise Mille Purple Slimer green Stylophora Purple Table acropora Acanthastrea Lordhowensis (red center, pale outside.. bleached I think but recovering) Blastomussa Merletti Ice Fire War FaviaCoral Trachyphlliidae (green center, red outside.. though pale red. might have been too much light but expands well) Trachyphlliidae (red/green mix.. bleached but recovering. Tucked under a shelf Expanding with very light color. Takes food at night) Green/Red favia Big frogspawn a Frag of the big frogspawn Green Monti cap Orange Monti cap Orange Chalice Grey w/pink eyes Chalice Kenya Tree's (might remove them at some point) Toadstool (just found him after he got knocked over a few months ago.. recovering) A few green mushrooms Several groups Zoa's and palys (I have no idea on the different names.) Current projects: Set up a quicker/easier way of doing water changes.. about half way there. Get Alk up just a little bit higher. Recover the Trachyphlliidae and the color in the Acan Get Apex Controller I'll post up some of the most recent pictures later.
  14. I added my RBTA to the tank after I had clownfish in there. After a couple months the clownfish started to host just fine. After a move when I lost my clownfish I added some new clownfish and they hosted right away. So I'm not sure the order is that critical to success with them.
