    :D

Reef Escape in Fairfax and Blue Ribbon Koi in Manassas both have water. RE now has some sort of "you must only use the containers we like" policy. (which they conveniently sell, of course); in previous months it was RODI+Omega One. BRK uses IORC. (PM me on prices, if you want).

Unfortunately, Petco's water, the most convenient option, has gone up in price. :(

    Thanks appreciate it.

  2. You’re quite welcome.

Wish I can help you out but I don’t live in the city of Fairfax any more. On top of that, the last time I checked my RODI had a tds of 9. And that was three months ago.....

No worries. Oh no it's time for that dreaded RODI filter change.  I always hate it because you have to take everything apart and I end up making a massive mess with the DI resin. :facepalm1:

  3. Centreville aquarium sells RODI and premix saltwater. Never bought from them, so can’t vouch for it’s quality.

If you can’t find anybody close, you can always buy distilled water from Walgreens off Arlington Blvd. and mix it yourself. It’s doable for small tank. For big ones, it can get expensive, but at least you don’t have to drive far.

Thank you very much, I'll check them out :)

  4. Hi all,

I sold my place and just moved out but am not closing on the new place till the 30th so my family and I are staying at my parents place and I have moved my tank here too. Unfortunately I couldn't bring and setup my RO filter here so until I move to the new place I need to purchase premixed Saltwater and RO/DI Water for the tank. Since I have been mixing and filtering my own water for years I don't know who sells it around here. My parents place is in Falls Church but I don't have a problem driving further if needed. Let me know who sells premixed Saltwater and RO/DI Water please so I can go grab some.

    Thanks,

  5. replacing the power cord is easy I had to do it a few years back when my reefkeeper decided to go nuts and fry the end of one of the cords. You can get the replacement cords from Home Depot or Lowes. You will take the unit apart, disconnect the current power cords, and attach the new cords. If I recall correctly the wires are connected to the unit with the twist type of connectors. As for the fan, I never had to do work on those so I can't help there unfortunately.

  6. Are you pumping the water from the reservoir to your sump and are they are the same level? The reason I ask is because that happened to me when I first set mine up. They were both at ground level and every time the ato pump water into the sump it created a siphon and kept dumping ro water in. I routed the water line up the back of the tank and now have it pump the ro water into the display and that solved the problem. If you do end up doing the just make sure the outlet of the line isn't submerged or you will be siphoning water out of your display into your ro reservoir. Hope that helps.

  7. Never had a peppermint shrimp do that. Are you sure it's not a camel shrimp? They look pretty alike and sometimes sold as peppermint shrimp by accident. They are not reef safe and will eat corals if they are not well fed. Hope that helps.

  8. This is very sad for sure and I am sure he is in a better place now with all the frag tanks he can dream of. I have had the pleasure of meeting him on multiple occasions and got many corals from him. Every time I was there he was always a great time talking with him and checking out his latest frag tank or new coral he was waiting on to grow. He was a H-E-double hockey sticks of a guy and definitely will be missed. :(

  9. I have 6500K Amazon Sun A150W over my 37G Cube marine planted tank and I love it. Hopefully I'll be adding softy frags in in there too soon. I definitely will say it's not as strong as a 175 Watt MH. If you are going to have SPS's high you should be fine and if it's a softy tank you should be ok anywhere in the tank.

  10. Thank you guys.

Khalid can I drop by and check out the fixture? I work in Herndon.

Ha I will check with Nam.

That's not a problem. I'll be home Saturday if you want to swing by. Just PM me and let me know so we can set something up. :)

  11. I have a ATI 80X8 sunpower and love it. As Roni said the powermodule has a few more fans and is more sturdy but don't let that scare you away from the sunpower because that is still a very sturdy fixture as well.
