  1. Although theyre clearly not the same as those harmless opaque whitish species, i want to say that these are another type of harmless planaria that just appear now and then in a tank, but looking at pictures, they sure do look a lot like those nasty red bugs! Theres a good amount of them, at least on the glass, but they don’t seem to be swarming on/around, or hurting anything.

Looks like planaria to me from the pictures.

  2. I have AI Nero 5’s on my peninsula and they have been great for the past 2 years. Love them so much I bought some for the new tank I set up too. They have have been headache free and super quiet unlike any of the vortechs I have owned.

  3. I have tried most of all the salts out there and I prefer tropic marin pro the best.  It is a little pricier but the quality is top notch.  BRS did a study of several different salt brands for a variety of parameters .....I recommend taking a look at the video and go from there.

How long have you been using it and do you think it was worth switching to? Been thinking about it for a while but haven’t pulled the trigger.

Bruh, you tried to get one other person to help you move a 220 gallon?!

FWIW, I've had great luck with using Task Rabbit to find folks to move heavy things, it's usually very reasonably priced, and I always save enough to tip them nicely.

Lol in my defense a friend and I moved a tank that size before but he also lifted like me and we were younger. I probably should of called him I guess

Awesome I’ll look Task Rabbit up then. I appreciate it

  5. Yea. You would need 4 min to move that size tank. Hahaha.

But if you had 6 people it would be a simple move that would take 5 mins.

True I guess I was asking too much of him lol

  6. Just rent the suction cups from the club and buy some beer and pizza. Should have a few guys local to you that can help out.

Thanks, I was debating on doing that or just having some friends help me out but thought the Covid mess would deter people so I thought I would look into having a company do it. My wife’s cousin and I attempted this past weekend to do it with the suction cups I have but the weight was a little too much for him so I would definitely need more people next time lol

  7. Hi,

Anyone know of a tank moving company that doesn’t charge an arm and a leg? I am setting up my new waterbox 220.6 and need to move the tank from the garage to the dining room. There are 3 steps to get into the house from the garage but other than that it’s a straight shot.

    Thanks

  8. I also struggle with PH and recently purchased a CO2 Scrubber.  Can you tell when I put fresh media in? The test that worked for me was while I was on vacation my PH never went below 8.1 with everyone home only goes over 8 a few hours a day when the lights are on.  Now with the scrubber always above 8.

The media you have should be color changing and I used to change it when most of the media was no longer white.

  9. good advise! if you are dosing kalk, the way to do it is with a  kalk reactor that is hooked to your auto top off water.
This in my option is one of the best things you can do for a mixed reef tank not completely jacked up with tons of corals. then when needed dose 2 part(really 3 part),

Hey Curtis, quick question. Is it not a good idea to idea to dose kalk in a loaded reef or am I not reading you post correctly?

  10. I used to but took it offline because I went through media like crazy and it still didn’t get the PH level to were I wanted. I now have my skimmer line pulling air from outside and a separate skimmer pump pumping oxygenated air in to the sump also pulling air from outside. Does a way better job and is more consistent but I am still not at the PH levels I want.

    Good information right here

This is what makes me nervous

It's like some people have great success with zero issues then others it's a horror story. I just dont know what to do. Far to much money in sps to lose it all

I think if you start slow with a low dose (lower than what is directed on the bottle and slowly build up you should be fine. Just keep monitoring levels to see when you need to increase or decrease dosages like it was back in the day with vodka and vinegar dosing.
