Doug,
Are they still looking for corals? I know this is an older thread but thought I would check. I have a nice Pavona that I would like to donate. I can either give a frag or small colony. I'm not 100% sure whether it is Pavona decussata, or Pavona divaricata. I looked on a couple of sites and they have pics of what mine looks like labeled as both types of Pavona. Here is a current pic of the coral. Please let me know if they are still accepting donations.

I posted another thread in the general discussion forum and got several great suggestions on how to catch the fish. I think the spear gun was the best. I'm going to try and avoid that method, at least for now.
We'll see, fish removal 2009 begins shortly.

You could always use sodium cyanide- that's probably how it was caught in th first place. I'll bet there wasn't any rock removal either...
Hmmmm......

This method will void my offer. Funny though.
LOL I'll keep that in mind.

Wow!!
That is a lot of suggestions! I think I like the spear gun the best though.
I'm going to give the dual net option a try first. I have a fish trap on the way to me and will give that a shot as well. I would really like to avoid taking everything out but if I have to I will.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!!

Any suggestions on how to catch a fish without removing everything from my tank to do it?
I have a bad bad flame angel that must go. Catching it is going to be tough so any suggestions would be great!

TEK all the way!!! Great product you won't be disappointed.

With the tank you have I would suggest DIY retro kits. They are very easy to hook up. What ever you decided to get for your T5s make sure that each bulb has it's own reflector. The DIY kits will give you more flexibility as Brian mentioned.

Johnny do you happen to have any more of the individually frozen silversides (not sure they were silversides but looked the same)? I got them last time I was there and they worked great. Although my kids found them and left them out so I need to find some more before my BTA gets too hungry.
Thanks,
Brian
Hmm...How often are you feeding your anemone? I have a giant RBTA that never gets fed, well at least not directly.

Here are a couple quick shots of my favs in my system.

Beautiful photos! How is that trigger doing in the tank?
Gotta keep my wife away from your thread or I'll be hounded til I get one!

He means "when", not "if"
Hmmm....I sense someone wanting an anemone for their tank.....Perhaps surgery will begin this weekend....I am married to a bio major.....

I've been told that too but I have no idea what to really look for. I know on corals like Trumpets and things like that you can see the mouth split and then after a week or so you have 2 polyps where there was once one. I'm guessing this is a similar process for anemones but I don't know. Something is going to have to give with it because it is giant.
Jason, if I cut it I will video it and post for all to view.

Very nice looking.
Glad you stayed in.
Thanks Chip!!
The anemone as you can see in the pics is in need of splitting. I am being told by everyone to just cut it. I've watched the videos you have posted on Youtube as well as a few others. I'm just scared of killing it.

Looking great as usual!
Thanks!
The tank is getting there slowly.

Hope over to Marinedepot.com and have a look at their pumps. There are a lot of options out there.

I agree. Reducing to 6-8 hours would probably be a good idea. It will reduce the chances of algae outbreaks and save the life of your bulbs too. Dual 250s on a 90 is a lot of light and a lot of heat for that period of time. I think reefmontalvo hit the nail on the head.
I have a similar schedule for my lighting though my lights come on much later in the day and stay on later into the night. I work nights so I have the MHs come on a 12:00 and 12:30 (sunrise) my actinics are on for an hour before the MHs come on and are on an hour after they go off.

I'm going too!!!!!!!!!
Whats up with my brain?
in General Discussion
Are you talking about the greenish white areas or the large whiteish area on the left of the coral?
Have you changed anything in the system recently? Lighting change added a new fish? Do you have a hippo tang?
