  1. Well, we were wrong. I came home today and all 3 were under the rock where the pair used to stay. I found a home for the naked clownfish and neted her up. I was so reluctent though as the 3 were peacefully sleeping and when I turned the the light on the two bigger clownfish did mating type rituals. Anyway shes in the refugium awaiting her new owner I guess I'll never know!

  2. Tank is 46 gallons

2 clownfish black and white mated(never had babies)

    1 clownfish naked.

How do I know I'm out of the "danger zone".

I'm 60% sure I got two females in the tank.

My clownfish are two diffrent sizes and the new one is slightly bigger then the female.

SO far the new clownfish has only displaced the old. The new one does act mildly agressive. Its been since 8:15 I felt bad leaving her in the sump. Shes for sale I need to get good pictures of her, does anyone think that the 3 in 1 could actaully work? I need advice if I'm slowly stressing my fish to death I'd rather put her in the sump. I can't see any obvious damage on either fish. I stayed up for 3 hours watching and waiting and nothing happend overly agressivly:(

(I DID THIS Once before with bad results Last time was much much worse and a smaller tank).

Please only chime in if you have something postive or atleast animal "nessicary" I don't want to hear something like you moran clownfish are conspecies agressive I've seen multiple tanks with 3-4 clownfish in them.

  3. Anyone heard of SEA SAVE out of annerundal county? I think they do this? I've heard mixed results some like it some don't my father has a friend and he goes exclusivly through them. I told my dad about sea mass and wamas to no avail.

I found them to be very well not children oriented. I brought in a few of my fainces families kids to explain to them about the hobby and stuff and they were rude to the children and too busy to make the effort.

Also they do group buys to their store front.

A mixed bag if someone else has an opinion I'd like to hear it as I have little experience like 3 or more times.

Two of which made me extremly mad and the last time I went by myself. I see on thier website cover they have children looking at the sharks.

I talked to them about the hobby by myself like how thier program works and stuff and they were applying for thier non profit status.

It may just be the management, but I believe children are the future no children and the hobby dies.

Not sure if you should keep sharks in swimming pools, not really an expert in keeping large marine life. They have several nurse sharks.

  4. Dr Mac doesn't say much on this forum, but I thought I'd say he does a wonderful job. Would highly recomend. GO visit his shop if you have the time its on the eastern shore of md. Never had a problem, and when I do his staff remedies it quickly!

  5. I ordered a few corals(very few) and a few cleaners and a feather duster. I called them Tuesday after hours they got back to me told me if I could place my order by 3pm they would ship for thursday:) The order was sent to the ups location arrived alive. In all I lost 2 small hermits. There was a slight problem with order and their customer servce was excellent. One of the corals looks better then the picture. I can't wait to get home and see them all out!

  6. I have a setup using leds from nano tuners I would check out thier website. They specilize in smaller tanks. THEY have a product thats led for 80$ for a bulb that mounts into a standard light socket. They are leds and bright, but they aren't dimable and kinda have a spot like look to them.

  7. I want to help but your 240 miles roundtrip from my house at 3.00$ at 1g your talking 80$min. Also I would avoid calling it a "SERVICE CHARGE" and just say gas money. Gas money is legally ok where as service charge implies that they are liscenes and insured as a business. Especially if theres an accident and the car issurance company finds out. I drove 3 hours in the blinding snow with my trunk open to get a 100$ fish tank. Anyway I just turned 26 and I was 20 when I started this hobby... its very crappy that you can legally be an adult, but techincally you can't drink or rent a car or hotel(not sure if this has changed).

  8. How much does it weigh? and how much are you willing to shell out for gas. Average bigger truck gets like 10miles to a gallon so from start to finishing your talking about a ton of money. Also are you all ready and setup for the tank to be deliver its going to take strong ppl to move it!

  9. Thats what I was thinking I was hopeing the price had fallen down where I could affored it. I'm going to for sure invest in some kind of auto top off system. I'm not actaully in the buying stage of the house more the saving stage and the more I can save the more I can put down and get out of my parents house! I have such pipe dreams of the perfect tank I guess it will have to wait until I'm retired. I might just see if I can expand the ammount of lights I have to check on the "light sockets" Anyway thanks again. I would still like an estimate for average costs though.

  10. No sump:) I have a small hang on refugium and a protein skimmer. that drain back into the tank so we keep the level at 3 inchs or so under the rim. As for the group by the par 38 ran me at 115$ each for 4 of them. I would need to know an appromite price as this is really out of my realm. The par 38s are onsale for 88$ a piece. so I could most likly get 70$ a piece after I get the new lights set up.

Anyone that could help me price the lighting I would be very eager to listen. I'm not really good with led spects either. Anyway I think I could stash a bucket resvoiur and then a pump and check valve and some kind of float sensor. Anyway thanks for the help.

  11. I currenlty have 38pars from nano tuners by evil. I was pretty impresse at first, but I wonder if there is something better out there and if its worth the cost to upgrade.

I have 4 of them suspended from the ceiling and about 10inchs from the top of the tank. This was lowered from 16 inches. Wasn't my only problem. water changes and salinty was also a big factor. The lights screw into standard flood lighting and are easy to use, but don't dim.

My tank is a 46g bowfront the heat is a huge issue as I'm not installing a chiller.

My concerns are as follows(Intial cost I'm trying to buy a house)

My dad is an engineer, but I'm a biologist and have trouble with mechancal devices including soderng.

I've tried to soder before and my hands shake way too much.(Disablity related).

Also looking for auto topoff sugestions.

(I've seen many varitions and I travel alot its on the second carpet floor of my parents house can't afford a spill.)

  12. Don't mix the dragonettes I tried with bad results. My mandrin who ate pellets and my dragonet both kicked the bucket! My ex gf really wanted a scooter blenny and it was bad news mixed species that eat the same thing eventually deplete the food source Anyway I was also told I couldn't keep a mandrin in a 24 2 years untl the stupid scooter blenny incendent.

  13. Wow thats cool that you stuck with the hobby. I've grown up myself with my learning and mental disabilities and this hobby is very relaxing. I will try and help I will pm you my number. I have a gf in columbia, md and I see her once a week and I could swing by and get some tank stuff done. My fiances cousin/best friend has cerbial palsy we make an intresting crew:) anyway I will send that number I wish I had more time, but I live in springfield, va work random hours and have a fiance in md.
