  1. I was a member of WAMAS until 2009 when my wife and I moved to Saipan. When I first got here I began collecting nice pieces of dry rock from the beaches, but I have too much and no place to keep it so I wondered if anyone is interested in free dry rock (you pay shipping)? I will only send it via a large (which isn't very large 12x12x5.5) flat rate USPS Priority box. Because all other methods are either super expensive or go by boat and take 6 weeks. USPS Priority takes about 10-14 days (from here) and costs about $15.95. The box isn't very big so the pieces will not be super big. I will put in as much as I can and when its gone, its gone. I will email a picture of what I can fit into a box if anyone is interested and weigh the box so you'd know about how much you're getting. PM me for any other info, but keep in mind it is +14 hours from EST. so in a few minutes I'm headed to bed. Thanks Todd
  2. is diving in Saipan

  3. I have some Instant Ocean and Reef Crystals (probably enough for 160 gal. of water) that I would like to donate to anyone keeping some sort of tank at a school or other community location. I also have some marine books that I would like to give away. Thanks
  4. +1 Brian's comment. I had a Tang in QT that had ich and did the 6 week hypo treatment. No problems since. Wetwebmedia.com has lots of info on hypo treatment.
  5. glassholes.com has a link to many manufactures panel specs. Drilling larger tanks is very easy.
  6. At 10ft the Dart draws 146 watts and pumps 1520gph, from the chart on their website.
  7. I have calculated my head pressure at 10 ft, so if I read the chart correctly that pump should yield 1000gph and draw a little more than 75 watts. Is that high?
  8. If anyone needs a new pump, check out the Reeflo website. They are selling Blackfin pumps for as low as $195 for a 1800gph pump. I just bought one to replace my closed loop pump.
  9. The one piece which was 17 1/8"x 15" was about $15. I got glass for the one piece of my refugium that partitions my DSB from my pump return section, since I do not want that to fail. IMO the other baffles are water flow management and not as critical, so I used the acrylic.
  10. I bought some 1/4 inch glass from Manassas Glass. I called them with my measurements and picked it up an hour later, cut with polished edges. Glass baffles are nicer IMO, but not as big an issue in a 30 gal (mine is 75 gal so 18 inch wide, which is a problem with HD acrylic)
  11. Its cheap, but does have sharp edged pieces of quartz. I don't think you should use it in your display. BRK has a good price on CaribSea sand, you're probably better to pay the price for good sand in the display.
  12. I think you are right. There are some sharp pieces that appear to be quartz, IMO. I'll try to post a pic of the bag, stand by.
  13. The bag does contain a silica warning disclaimer. I did a side by side comparison with CaribSea Aragonite sand. The CaribSea fizzes more but the Southern States sand is fizzing as well. My CaribSea sand is much finer grain so that may account for some of the difference. Either way, it may be good enough for a RDSB set-up.
  14. Don't know if anyone is interested, but I was at the Manassas Southern States Coop store today and found that they have a pallet of Oldcastle white playsand for $3.79/bag. I bought some and did the vinegar test on the sand. It definitely fizzes, but does have some sharp edged pieces. Anyway, just thought I'd pass on the info if anyone needs sand.
