  1. "not for aquarium use"

I think that is just to cover their butts legally.

If it is 100% silicone then it is fine.  Your week cure time is plenty but I think two days should be fine depending on how thick you lay it.

  2. Well, I have tried the heavy feeding and then big water change that I have heard about and nothing yet.  I was told from a guy at RC that a 1cm deep cut 6cm long from the base up would do the trick.  He learned this from Anthony Calfo and has done it a dozen times with no failures.  I am planning on doing this Sunday.  I will let you guys know how it turns out.
  3. I have been doing the heavy feeding for about ten days now.  I will try the water change this weekend and wait a week to see what happens.  If it doesn't split then I will cut it.  I just wanted to see if any one in the club had any luck trying the slice and dice.
  4. Has any one in the club ever forced a BTA to clone?  I have been reading and talking to people from Reef Central but was wondering if any one local has tried it.  I have a BTA that is out growing its home.  It has been 14 months since it split last and it may get cut this weekend if I get the nerve to do it.
  5. If you want to keep hermit crabs I would stay with the Scarlets.  I have four and I have never seen them mess with anything.  I have seen my blue legged hermits grow into snail killers.  They would always fight with each other for their shells.  I think the scarlets grow alot slower than blue legged hermits do too.  If you do keep blue legs have lots of spare shells to reduce the fights.  When the blues grow up I would remove them before your snails become a new condo.
  6. I had bare bottom tanks for eight years before going to the DSB two years ago.  So far I love it.  There is not only alot more life in the tank but it looks alot better then bare glass.  I have not seen much in the way of buffering help from the sand bed as I had heard about.

I had a bottomless tank one time too when I lived in FL.  I dropped a big rock in my tank that broke the bottom and put 30 gallons on the floor.  Something that doesn't happen w/ a sand bed.
