Ridetheducati,
It took the food with no problem. It actually got bigger which is not what I wanted. How is yours doing?
Alberto,
Send me the site you found please.

Well, I have tried the heavy feeding and then big water change that I have heard about and nothing yet. I was told from a guy at RC that a 1cm deep cut 6cm long from the base up would do the trick. He learned this from Anthony Calfo and has done it a dozen times with no failures. I am planning on doing this Sunday. I will let you guys know how it turns out.

I have been doing the heavy feeding for about ten days now. I will try the water change this weekend and wait a week to see what happens. If it doesn't split then I will cut it. I just wanted to see if any one in the club had any luck trying the slice and dice.

Has any one in the club ever forced a BTA to clone? I have been reading and talking to people from Reef Central but was wondering if any one local has tried it. I have a BTA that is out growing its home. It has been 14 months since it split last and it may get cut this weekend if I get the nerve to do it.

Tom,
It looks good. I don't know if you are still working the links but I clicked on "Our Tanks" and got the announcement for the fall meeting. Just some FYI.

Ridetheducati,
Count me in for a bag of your feather.

I would really like some if you have extra.

CBO,
I have 2 clear acrylic tubes that are 3/16" thick, 5" dia and 9" long. You can have if you need them.

It was no problem at all! Thanks for the frags.

If you have an old small metal toolbox you no longer use it might work. Drill holes in it to run the wire in and out.

I have a diamond bit you are welcome to use. It fits 1 inch bulkheads.

What's a BCS? I would guess he is talking about a Banded Coral Shrimp. Just a guess!

If you want to keep hermit crabs I would stay with the Scarlets. I have four and I have never seen them mess with anything. I have seen my blue legged hermits grow into snail killers. They would always fight with each other for their shells. I think the scarlets grow alot slower than blue legged hermits do too. If you do keep blue legs have lots of spare shells to reduce the fights. When the blues grow up I would remove them before your snails become a new condo.

Chem-Marin Stop Parasites or Kent Rx P PARASITE TREATMENT should work the same.

I have heard of people using a buffer w/ Brasso but have never tried it. I am sure it is not a fast process. An automotive store or glass place may sell the scratch removal kits also. Just an idea.

It might be worth the five bucks if you wanted to treat them and place them in a quarantine tank for a month or so. Just something to think about.

They should all be fine together. To be on the safe side add the damsel last after the others have their homes so he is the new fish on block.

I had bare bottom tanks for eight years before going to the DSB two years ago. So far I love it. There is not only alot more life in the tank but it looks alot better then bare glass. I have not seen much in the way of buffering help from the sand bed as I had heard about.
I had a bottomless tank one time too when I lived in FL. I dropped a big rock in my tank that broke the bottom and put 30 gallons on the floor. Something that doesn't happen w/ a sand bed.

Great info. I am sure you may have saved someone alot of stress and some corals too.
If someone does not know about them try this link. Has some nice pics of these guys.

They are all gone!
cbo, I will email you later.

A month ago while l was in Qatar someone was looking for 150W HQI ballasts. I have returned and I found four of them in my shed if somebody NEEDS them. FREE!
-
Sounds like a great idea. Can you post the directions or address for Coral Connection. Wouldn't mind checking the place out.

I am a paid member.
aquarium sealant?
in Do It Yourself
"not for aquarium use"
I think that is just to cover their butts legally.
If it is 100% silicone then it is fine. Your week cure time is plenty but I think two days should be fine depending on how thick you lay it.
