  1. Brian,

Thanks a lot for the suggestion, I'll do the way you suggested. This is the first time I move SW tank, so it's a bit frustrating.

Oh, if you're moving the tank I would definitely pick up a couple of the Hefty Brute trashcans. Put the rock and water in those, move the tank and then pump the water back into the tank. That may work better?
  2. Oh, this is nice. Hopefully Walmart still have it. I am moving my 46 gal fish tank, and I don't know how to keep the rock in the water. It'll be so heavy. I think I might have to give up the SW tank.

I bought 5 gallon bottles at Walmart for around $8.

  3. Hi All,

I want to buy some 5 gal empty container with lid. The type that you go to the fish store to buy some RO water. Can you guy tell me where to get it? Call one of the LFS, and they said it's 18 for that empty container. Seem a bit too much for just a plastic container.

    Thanks

  4. Hi all,

I lived in Burke, and just bought a house in Falls Church. I need to move my 46gal tank. Can some one in the area of either Burke or Falls Church (7 corner) help me out this weekend or next weekend?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

I've sold everything I have. I'm out for now but I will certainly be back. I'm having a pretty major back surgery on Thursday at Washington Hospital Center. I'll be in good hands. I wanted to thank everyone that I've met and some that I've become friends with since I've joined. I'll still be on here even though I don't have a tank right now just because I like the people. This is a great club with great people and I will certainly be back in the hobby once I'm a little better. Thanks again.

  6. Hey bro,

It's good to hear that another Wamas member has Lou Han. Look like your Lou Han has ick. Last time, my Lou Han had ick. I just did a 30% water change, and raise the water temperture slowly to 90 degree in a day. I leave the water at 90 degree for a couple day, and gradualy bring it back down to 75-78 degree. How big is your fish? This fish is pretty hardy, just give him sometime. His had can be growing that much in just a couple day.

Have you check out this website:

    http://www.flowerhornusa.com/forums/

This website has all the Diseases & Treatment for Lou Han.

I hand feed my Lou Han, and I can pet him. I love this fish. He is all by himself in my 125gal RR tank. I plan to convert this tank to saltwater. Check out my Lou Han, he is 7 inches now.

  8. Hi,

I have a 125gal RR that I am using for fresh water fish now. I am thinking about moving my 46gal to the 125gal. I want to do T5. If anybody in the Burke, Springfield area or not too far away, and have 125gal or tank with 72 T5 setup, can I stop by to check out your lighting.

    Thanks a lot in advance,

    Tee

  9. So cool.

Well, I went down there tonight, and the shrimp was sitting in the exact place one of the 2 aiptasias used to exist.

It has been completely removed. There is still one aiptasia left.

I'm officially impressed. The little guy has unquestionably eaten one entire aiptasia.

  10. Yeah, I like BRK too. The only problem for us is it's a little too far.

wow glad to see a lot of supporters of Marine Scene... personally (I don't have an issue with them, just rather go to BRK, ACG, PA just because they have quality corals and fish at competitive prices.

  11. They might have to charge people way more than what they charge in order to take the fish back anytime, and refund saltwater fish if people are not happy. Even Petco won't accept return saltwater fish. Why would a private own fish store should?

ALL stores do accept return of Fresh Water Fish, not SW.

But as one of the best aquarium stores in the area, they should accept returns on any day, for whatever reason. And even refund your $$$ if you just say "I'm unhappy with my purchase."

Not arguing with a customer is the best guarantee that he/she'll be a customer for life.

That's just a basic rule of customer service.

And I don't think anyone here is trying to scam them.....

  12. Saltwater fish are very sensitive. So most LFS has their own rule about exchange and return. It take time our of them to quarantine your return fish again. I would understand if they charge a small return fee, just like Bestbuy charge you restocking fee. I think MS is treating everybody else the same, not just you. They should have a right to do refuse it. If they only take return or exchange fish back on just Tuesday, they do that with everybody. Just like you have "excuse" of working in DC. I think it is a fair rule for them, and I don't think they are single you out. Most of us here know that MS is a little expensive place for SWF, but thier fishes always healthy. I understand your frustration, but your choice of words are pretty harsh: "deceptive and disgraceful."

    Just my 2 cents,

    Tee

I purchased 2 clown fish at Marine Scene. One was purchased about 6 weeks ago and the other about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, they are almost exactly the same size and will not quit fighting, so I quarantined one and took I back to exchange it for a smaller one today.

When I took it in they explained that they will only accept returns on Tuesdays due to their quarantine process. At least that was the excuse they are asked to give for not exchanging their own fish. I explained that I work in DC and can't get there during store hours on Tuesday and they said that I could not exchange it then. I told them that all of the other fish stores I go to accept their own fish any day. They said they won't.

I have asked at Marine Scene before if I could exchange a fish if I had a problem and the answer was "yes," not "only on Tuesdays."

All other LFS that I have ever gone to, which is a lot, will accept a fish like this and put it in a separate quarantine tank. To me it sounds like a lame excuse to minimize returns, and is unquestionably deceptive up front.

The people that work there are always professional and polite, but this store policy is deceptive and disgraceful. Anyone else have a problem with Marine Scene?

  13. Did you make sure the impeller is spinning freely on the shaft, sometimes calcium deposits can get between the impeller shaft and impeller. To clean the shaft, pull the rubber ends off the impeller shaft and slide the impeller off, soak it all in vinegar for a while.

I clean the impeller and the pump. I used Q-tip to clean the deposit stuff from the pump wall, where it hold the impeller. I will try to soak it in Vinegar, and see if it help.

Thanks a lot for the tip,,

  14. I'm in the process of selling my Cichlid tank and I'm wondering if using some of the lace rock to make live rock out of it is a good or bad idea. Would cleaning/scrubbing and curing the rock be safe to put into an established SW tank or should I just let the rock go?

Any good suggestions on methods to clean the rock and cure it? I live in a condo. Lol.

Are you selling your Cichlid fish? Please let me know.
