  1. im upsizing to a 90g RIGHT NOW! i use a gsa shorty, a 29g sump, and dual pfo 175mh w/ t-5 supplement. if you want to see it sometime, shoot me a pm. i live in middletown and will be around most of the weekend. :)

  2. the reason for the alk going up and the calcium going down is the fact that you're using both parts a and b. only use the calcium part until that goes up and the alk starts to fall again.

note: cal and alk readings are inversely proportionate. e.g. when cal goes up, alk drops and when alk goes up, calcium drops.

  3. although there is more organic laden water entering the deltec, the gsa skimmer will have more bubble contact time. this is a result of the water staying in the column longer. additionally, you had already stated that the pump on the gsa is 50% larger. that too will increase contact time and the amount of air bubbles that will come in conact w/ the water that is in the skimmer longer.

it will be interesting to see the results. i think that the skim from the gsa will be more efficient and the water leaving the skimmer will be of higher quality. maybe you could measure the tds or something similar of the water leaving each skimmer???? i think that would be a real test!!

  4. When does your show on HGTV start?

i just hope he gets to meet paige! she is back, you know??

seriously, i think a toolbox in that same color would be SWEET! maybe you could get 1 so that the router and box match. ;)

  5. i covered the lower opens in the 1st section of my ap. get some of the outlet covers that they sell at home depot in the baby safety section. cut the little dickeys in half so they dont poke the sponge. then, just shove them in! they should stay in there fine and block the flow. if you get fed up w/ them later, they're not glued onto the tank. give it a shot. it has worked well for me!

i too need to try lower the water level in the back. i'm sure it will help the flow too!

if you think that you need more flow, i read that you can put a mj900 in there for the return pump. it seems like a lot of people are making that change too, and i will probably be doing that myself.

  7. to answer a few of your questions:

some people have frag tanks to grow out frags. their main tank isnt crowded w/ the frags, yet they have the ability to trade and sell off the frags. it is a seprate tank that is typically plumbed into the system.

sometimes you can keep it on theplug, sometimes you tank it off the disc/plug. whatever your needs are. thats the beauty of it, your tank can be different then another, but similar in so many ways too! like you said if you glue it to something, you'r kinda...STUCK!!

as far as what you should do next, my advice would be to watch your frags mature into healthy colonies! i totally understand the space restraints and thats why what im doing myself is watching. occasionally ill see something that i really like and ill want a piece, but for the most part it's just watching my tank, "grow up."

    hope this helps :)
