Hatchling (3/13)

  1. I have a question which might end up being a dumb one, but coming from someone who has lost multiple longnose hawkfish from jumping out onto the carpet even while covering the top. How do you keep your fish from jumping out? Are you just careful to select none jump prone fish or do you know some magical trick that I don't?
  2. Thanks for all the positive feed back. As far as the specs, I guess I have never put it all down. So I'll try It's A 75 gallon tank Two 10 gallon sumps first, is a refugium and the second houses my AquaC E180 and a mag 7 return pump The tank is not drilled so I have an over flow box. I have two Hydor Koralia 1's for ciculation For lighting I have two VHO actinics and two T5's one Geisemann Midday and the other is the AquaBlue We use to run an Eheim canister filter but I took it out not liking all the hoses and what not cluttering my tank. However afer the meeting I am thinking of some how adding mechanical and chemical filtration, but hopefully without the clutter, any suggestions? 1 Regal Tang 1 Lemonpeel Angel 1 Coral Beauty 1 Cherub Angel 2 Clownfish and unfortunately our Royal Dottyback decided to jump out of the tank recently Other than that we have a kenya tree, 3 assorted mushrooms and we got a leather recently at the meeting thans to the frag workshop. 3. I just wanted to thank all of you who have helped us get our tank up and looking like it is now. I certainlywould have made more mistakes starting this hobby if it weren't for all of advice, expertise, free stuff and patience. I decided to post a picture of the tank so you can all see what your hard work goes into. I know it still has a long way to go to rival your tanks, but hey I'm always accepting Leather and softy donations. Once again thank you for all the support. Brandon

  6. It is not currently a reef, however, the plans are that it will be in the near future.
  7. I do have a good amount of rock work.
  8. I am thinking about placing multiple Pygmy Angelfish in my 75 gallon tank. I already have a cherub angel and am contumplating adding a coral beuty and possibly a lemon peel. Is this just a really stupid thing for me to do.
  9. Thanks for the info. I'm glad to finally find something cheap about this hobby.
  10. Just a quick question about lighting for a refugium. Does the lighting have to be too special or are just some basic flourescents ok? Thanks
  11. My wife and I will be there. However we might have to leave early. I am interesting in a discussion or demonstration on sump/refugiums. How to build one, how to plumb one, how to stock one, size, and the like. Also I have been doing research on the true plenum system and have wondered if anyone has attempted the raised plenum in their sump/refugium. I would very much like to learn more about these topics, Thank You.
  12. I do not see white spots. It always has its mouth open, but I can't tell that it is breathing real hard.
  13. I have had this Yellow tang for about two months now. When I first got it, it appeared to be healthy it ate well and swanm about the tank happily. Lately however it seems to have lost interest in life doesn't eat and swims slower. The water conditions are Temp 80 degrees Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 nitrate 15 PH 8.2 Salinity 1.022. This is the second Yellow tang that I have had. The same thing happened to the last one and it eventually starved to death. It shares a 75 gallon tank with a Regal Tang, 2 Clownfish and a Royal Dottyback. Please if you could help and explain what is wrong and what I should do to fix the problem. ps. The green dots in the picture are on the glass not the fish.
