We produce thousands of captive bred seahorses a year for the aquarium trade, research groups and public aquaria. This presentation will walk you through day to day operations at our seahorse hatchery, as well as how to provide the proper husbandry and environment needed to successfully keep seahorses in the home aquaria. We also will have some of our seahorses at the meeting for you and your family to meet. Seahorses are unique in the animal kingdom because the male seahorse actually gets pregnant and gives birth, pretty neat! A male seahorse can give birth to over 1000 fry! Primary coral donations supporting FragFest are generously provided by: Reef Escape * Coral donations from members will also be taken, If you have corals for fragging, please contact Chip (Flowerseller) to make arrangements.* If you can bring 5 - 15 g's of saltwater that would be helpful as well. [We will start a post so we can get idea on how much is coming]Introducing the speaker, Kyle MartinBiography: Kyle Martin graduated from Salisbury University where he studied biology. He traveled to Honduras to study Coral Reef Biology while attending Salisbury University. During college Kyle began working for Pacific East Aquaculture and is now the Director of Aquaculture. He and his fiancé Alyssa started breeding seahorses in 2014 and founded Seahorse Savvy in 2015. Special thanks to theses sponsors. Please support them & say thanks next time you shop with them.
