malacoda November 17, 2019 Share November 17, 2019 I've been running two V4 compacts since May. What kind of questions do you have?

SPReefer November 19, 2019 Author Share November 19, 2019 I’m coming from the T5 world so forgive me lol. Is it normal to see a lot of shimmer on the sand bed? I have them mounted 15” off the water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
malacoda November 19, 2019 Share November 19, 2019 I've only ever used LED lights, so it's hard for me to compare it to T5's ... or to quantify 'a lot' of shimmer is. That said, all LEDs produce shimmer. And the more motion or rippling you have on the surface of the water, them more shimmer effect there will be. What I can say is that, as far as LEDs go, the Orpheks have less shimmer than many other LED lights because the LEDs are spread out across the entire panel rather than in tight clusters. You may have already seen it, but BRS did a video about the Orphek V4s. They compare shimmer to other types of lighting right around the 14:00 minute mark: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/video/view/brstv-investigates-orphek-atlantik-v4-possibly-the-best-light-for-a-reef-tank/
