Ne0eN August 3, 2006 August 3, 2006 So I got this pistol shrimp, that allegedly forms a symbiotic realationship with a watchman goby. Little did I know that this crazy shrimp was going to re-aquascape my entire sandbed. I have a 3" mix of southdown and carib-sea in the 60 gal reef. As soon as introduced into the tank, he went straight to work. He dug out at least 3 different holes under LR (good thing I put PVC pipes for foundation) and made piles and piles of sand all over the tank. There is a sand-storm going on, and all my rocks/corals are covered in a sand. It's been a week. Is he ever gonna chill out? -- Rob
dhoch August 3, 2006 August 3, 2006 Rob is this the one I passed on from the tank breakdown? Hopefully he will eventually calm down, but he needs to make his home, his summer home, a vacation condo, and a beach front house first Dave
rsaavedra August 3, 2006 August 3, 2006 Rob I had one on my 15G a few years back and I gave up on him, 2 years later he was still digging all over the place even after he paired up with a yasha, It was funny because me and the wife will just sit there sometimes to see him dig, he dig didn't like it I guess and move somewhere else, and so on and so on eventyally he ran out of places to dig so he would dig next to an existing hole so as he digged his new hole he would be filling the one next to it... I must say they are fun to watch.
rrubberbandman August 3, 2006 August 3, 2006 neoen, maybe he's looking for his goby that you havent bought him yet? Bryan
Ne0eN August 3, 2006 Author August 3, 2006 Well, there is a watchman goby in there... somewhere. Haven't seen him in couple of weeks though. He usually comes out when I feed live brine shrimp (weird). It's actually the same goby that he used to be paired with a year ago. The story is, one guy here on Wamas (name escapes me) a while back was breaking down a tank and had 2 gobies with pistol shrimp up for sale. I grabbed the goby, fishface got the pistol shrimp with the other goby. Well, as some of you know fishface just moved to India - I got his pistol shrimp, and hopefull he'll reunite with my goby. Dhoch, not sure if this is your original pistol shrimp. If he is, do you want him back? What's his name? -- Rob
