Guest tgallo April 10, 2004 April 10, 2004 for the price , there great and there fluidized, you can run phosban or rowaphos thru them.click here
SDBDRZ April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 Tony, I order 2 from North Coast Marine but apparently they are out of stock. I will let you know what I think when I receive mine Scott
chideloh April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 That's nice but it's too small. I wish they made some thing that can handle 500 gallon or more.
Gatortailale April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 I ordered one. No idea if it shipped or is/was in stock. Only got confirmation email that they got my order
Guest LoveReef April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 can someone explain what it is? i have never heard PhosBan Reactor...
Gatortailale April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 This is from michaelg's comments in members section on Mike Paletta' talk at CMAS Event: see bold part. Mike's talk was on SPS propagation, keeping, and coloration. On the fragmentation side- the one thing he strongly recommends is mounting horizontally rather than upright. He has also changed tunes on feeding- and recommends it. All the stuff that we commonly discuss (golden pearls, cyclopeeze, home brew cocktails). Coloration and general keeping- He thinks of calcium reactors more of alkalinity reactors- additional supplimentation fo calcium is needed. Phosphates were another big focus of commentary- He strongly feels that the ROWAPHOS product is supperior to the other products on the market- though is needs to be fluidized to be effective. Lower phosphates leads to increased nitrate uptake by the calerpas in refugiums. He seemed to feel that low nutrient levels really help with coloration.
michaelg April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 I still like my el-cheapo version of a used TWP for the media. One big reason is that I would need a seperate powerhead to feed that reactor, while mine I can just run inline on the output of the calcium reactor :p They do look nice though- and amazingly, not expensive compared to most things made out of clear tubing.
chideloh April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 Michael, I was thinking about making one out of TWP tubing but I was told the tubing needed to be big like 6-8 inches in diameter. Is this what you heard too? Even this one, it's not that big. You can only put in 200 mg max. I need something that can handle 3-4 times that.
geofloors April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 Even this one, it's not that big. You can only put in 200 mg max. I need something that can handle 3-4 times that. I'm working on it David George
Guest tgallo April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 That's nice but it's too small. I wish they made some thing that can handle 500 gallon or more. david, they do gr , look here. it's called a deltec, and you have to spend money for it.
peacetypes April 13, 2004 April 13, 2004 what else if anything can you run in there, thinking about getting one? Robert
SDBDRZ April 14, 2004 April 14, 2004 One is really too small for my system so I am going to try to run the two I ordered inline. We will see how it works. If they do run inline and work okay I may add a third inline. Heck for the price you can hardly beat it if it actually works. If they do not work they will end up on the shelf of misfit reef gadgets in my basement :D
chideloh April 14, 2004 April 14, 2004 That's good George. Tony, where can I get more info on the Deltec stuff?
Guest Leishman April 14, 2004 April 14, 2004 they are not in stock yet. They hope to ship orders next Mon or Tues.
Guest HVF21221 April 15, 2004 April 15, 2004 For the deltec stuff check out www.d-daquariumsolutions.com It is in the UK but you can surf around the site and see all the products and check out the manuals. They are pretty simple in design and way overpriced! Alot of info though. The smaller ones for Phosban I have been using for years. It looks like the coralife model with a new sticker slapped on it. I run one for phosban and one for carbon. That Fish Place carries them. Do a search on their site for "reactor" I am not sure of the price these days though. Hope this helps, Howard
Guest tgallo April 15, 2004 April 15, 2004 if anyone is interested in there products, scott or i could give you the usa repp's phone number, he's in P.A and a great guy to deal with.
chideloh April 15, 2004 April 15, 2004 Tony, Please email me the number to the Deltec Rep. chideloh@aol.com Thanks
Gatortailale April 23, 2004 April 23, 2004 Q: Could you run carbon in one of these? What about a mix of carbon and Rowa for smaller systems? I know Michaelg posted that Paletta said bigger diameter better, but just curious of what happens if you mix the 2 media. OR put inline one carbon and 2nd one Rowa
Guest tgallo April 23, 2004 April 23, 2004 hey craig, yes bigger would be better, but for the price(it is what it is) it will work. i'm sure you could run rowa and carbon together , but it won't fluidize as well as it should with the added wieght of the carbon. anyway, it's better then running rowa or carbon in a canister filter wich will clump up and channel, leading to a bypass of most of the media..
geofloors April 24, 2004 April 24, 2004 I got a tracking number this morning. Mine should arrive on Tuesday. George
Guest tgallo April 24, 2004 April 24, 2004 this thing cracks me up, it's powered by a minijet404, wich came in a 200gallon saltmix bucket of instant ocean, it's working great.
