AUFishGuy November 12, 2015 Share November 12, 2015 So i have a 90 gallon mixed reef with canopy. I am currently running 2 DM-165m lights by reef radiance. With the way my canopy opens i ended up making a wooden frame that i sit the lights on. I want to supplement T5 but dont want to spend a ton and i want to be able to just attach them to the bottom of the wooden frame. Any ideas? I found the below on amazon but review say they are not great around moisture so that would be an issue http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AKKUEV0/ref=s9_simh_gw_p86_d1_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=0XYEBCMEB77ZQXWTX2WS&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2079475242&pf_rd_i=desktop

monkiboy November 12, 2015 Share November 12, 2015 you can always just get a LET retro kit: come with everything you need and PnP. I may have a set or two on hand. I haven't had issues with them on a few builds amd they've worked well. a dimmable is or will be available soon at a higher cost too. there are a couple other more expensive cleaner installation options as well. AUFishGuy November 12, 2015 Author Share November 12, 2015 So the kit shown above will hold 2 bulbs correct? Would they have to be right beside each other or could they be a foot apart? Also what bulbs would you recommend? My color and everything is good really just adding this for SPS growth
monkiboy November 12, 2015 Share November 12, 2015 correct. there is sufficient wiring to have them a foot apart, yes. bulb selection will likely affect the aesthetic so it's good to have a balance with whatever other light sources you use. typically coral+ is advocated for the biggest hitter in coral growth and blue+ most popular for aesthetic. a myriad of excellent options between brands too and several exhaustive threads about performance as well on RC and R2R and even here recently. take a look around and find what might work best for your reef. feel free to PM if you have any other questions and/or if I can be of more help.
