GFO Reactor Clogging

I have a BRS external GFO/Carbon reactor.  I also use two part Calcium Alk and a Kalk stirrer.  My GFO reactor keeps clogging.  I took out the bottom sponge but still clogs.  Anyone have any suggestions?

You can't just put GFO in that reactor. It needs to be a combo of carbon and GFO.

I put GFO only and it works fine. I suggest put less until it tumbles and doesn't clog. I have mine (2 little fishies) about 1/4 full. You'll have to change it more often since it is less.

make sure you have 2 meshes and two sponges.One mesh is at the bottom then sponge then GFO then sponge and the last layer is mesh on top. i love the BRS external. It is very easy to clean. Hope it helps.
