Fishie August 11, 2014 August 11, 2014 Hi ...I need a swabbie for an ATB 840v2 it measures 7" across the outer part of the top lid which is A on your site. some websites said go 8" but i was confused whats needed for me
ctenophore August 11, 2014 August 11, 2014 Go with your personal measurements- ATB is notorious for changing the dimensions of their skimmer collection cups on nearly every revision of skimmer. There are definitely a few different versions of the 840 "v2". I know we have people who have used 7" Swabbies on ATB 840 series skimmers, so if yours measures 7", then that is what you need.
Fishie August 11, 2014 Author August 11, 2014 ok ill go with 7 then.. can the 7" increase little more if needed
Fishie August 13, 2014 Author August 13, 2014 (edited) what is the circumference of the motor housing on the swabbie ? I have placed my order through ERC and wanted to make a hole wide enough on my lift up wooden lid where the skimmer is to allow the motor housing to come out. I also noticed on the site that there is a swabbie conversion kit available. I am guessing this isn't needed on new orders since they would already have an upgraded motor. Are these new housings black in color ? Edited August 13, 2014 by Fishie
ctenophore August 14, 2014 August 14, 2014 3.75" diameter. Circumference would be pi×diameter or 11.78. The conversion kits are only for old swabbies, about 2 years old or more.

Fishie August 26, 2014 Author August 26, 2014 so its been little over a week since I've had mine going and i see a brown layer around the top 25% part of my neck...should it be clean or there can be a light layer .. also the top of the wiper is collecting a good amount of gunk which way should the wiper face when running...im trying to set it to drag since its flexible to get more contact...but it doesn't get a clean sweep everywhere
ctenophore August 26, 2014 August 26, 2014 You can tighten it down against the neck a little more. The wiper is designed to be flexible like that. Bump it out about a millimeter, then tighten down the stainless steel nut to keep it from sliding back in.
ctenophore August 26, 2014 August 26, 2014 Doesn't matter which way the wiper faces. It's bidirectional.
Fishie August 29, 2014 Author August 29, 2014 does the swabbie need to be on port 4 or 8 of the apex aqua controller...i was testing my adjustment for the wiper and noticed that it isn't shutting off is this one of the things that needs to be on the low voltage relay ports of the apex aqua controller?
ctenophore September 1, 2014 September 1, 2014 It only draws about 2-3 watts, so very possible. I'm not sure what outlet mine are in.
Fishie September 1, 2014 Author September 1, 2014 yea i moved it over to 8 and it worked fine...oddly enough it was working ok in the non relay ports initially but i guess those aren't always predictable for such a low voltage draw...all good now tho ty
