Guest Kimo February 13, 2006 February 13, 2006 I have a MR-2 from MRC, the OLD one without o-rings or keyhole flanges. I have been reading a lot about recirculating skimmers fed by the overflows, and it seems like a really good idea. The skimmer works pretty well (if I clean it) as is, but I have read a bunch about recirculating skimmers and have seen the new recirc. skimmers (or mods) from MRC and they look interesting. It seems like it would be a matter of cutting down a couple bulkheads, drilling some holes into the skimmer box and gluing the bulkheads in, fairly simple. But is it worth it? Would it really make a big difference? Having the pump parallel to the wall of my sump would help me with space issues, but I don't want to ruin my skimmer as I don't have the $$$ to buy a new one right now. What does everyone think about this? Thanks, Jamie
ErikS February 14, 2006 February 14, 2006 Can't answer for becketts specifically, but in general recirc's for NW skimmers can up the performance by 50% Did you check the "MRC Club" @ ReefCentral - a wider audience.......or...email Andy? He's usually pretty darn helpful with stuff like this.
