Guest Sachin January 25, 2006 January 25, 2006 I just got this protein skimmer for my tank I was hoping there is someone out there that has this setup running or had it in the past. I am just looking for some advice Please let me know if you have this skimmer running with any of the Oceanrunner pumps. ( I am real interested in the last sentence: If the Turboflotor and not be hooked up directly to the overflow box, a second pump (250 gph) can be used) I understand that if this skimmer is sitting in the sump then 2nd pump should be used, but I guess my question is that my current Oceanrunner has Needle Wheel impeller in it which in my opinion has does not push as much water through the pump without having second pump setup in line ???????????????????????? Aqua Medic Turboflotor T-1000 Skimmer The Turboflotor T-1000 is a compact skimmer with integrated trickle filter for the undercounter filter system. The design ensures an intensive mixing and a long retention time of the bubbles in the water, until the foam is pushed into the conical foam cup. From the reaction pipe, the water flows to the post switched trickle filter. This is filled with Bactoballs for biological filtration. Water flows directly to the skimmer as a bypass (approx. 250 gph) from the overflow of the aquarium, without the need for a pump. If the Turboflotor and not be hooked up directly to the overflow box, a second pump (250 gph) can be used.
HowardofNOVA January 25, 2006 January 25, 2006 Sachen, Ran the system for about a year in my original 30g SW tank. Did a good job using a MJ pump, but recommend the OR instead. I also had good luck running a small powerhead to tubing to feed the venturi valve. Gave a good zip to the system. I ran my system IN the sump.
geofloors January 25, 2006 January 25, 2006 The Ocean Runner pump is just a recirculating pump with a venturi. You will need a small powerhead to force water into the skimmer. I used a MJ250 with a piece of hose on the outlet. Good skimmer. George
