sen5241b December 1, 2013 December 1, 2013 Just plucked a Zoa Eating Nudibranch out of my tank. What to do? Are there likely more ? Also, do they eat anything else?
GraffitiSpotCorals December 1, 2013 December 1, 2013 There is a ton of info on the net. Never dealt with them personally but I know looking for them at night with a flashlight is the best thing. Find the egg sacks and get them out. Flatworm exit in high amounts is supposed to be the best dip for them. Also I believe coral rx is a good one? How many zoas colonies or frags do you have? Everyone check your corals! Snails and spiders are also things to look for on zoas. Never know what could be lurking if you don't qt. Even dipping doesnt ensure safe passage of clean coral.
Wrench December 1, 2013 December 1, 2013 I had them years ago. Look for eggs at the base of your polyps. Search google for pics of what to look for. I purchased a yellow wrasse which took care of the problem. This was back before dips were commercially available. Other wrasses like radiant and melanarus eat them also.
sen5241b December 1, 2013 Author December 1, 2013 (edited) I have two little assorted polyps each on a plug. I just examined them with a flashlight and magnifying glass and I did not see any more or any eggs. Looking for them at night was a good call. They really blend in and the only reason I saw the one is cause it was high up on the glass. My little 20G long might not support a Yellow Wrasse. Edited December 1, 2013 by sen5241b
