Hi all,

I recently bought an Elegance coral from the Marine Scene and while it was initially healthy 2 weeks ago, it is now beginning to show the possible problems that Eric was mentioning on RC.

I posted a pic for him to look at and he said it might be the beginning of the end for mine so I am seriously considering sending mine over to him this week while it is still only partially affected on one side.

My elegance's problem area

Does anyone else have any they wanna send away to Eric because I would guess that you might save on shipping if you jump onboard with me.

I went to Roozens today and I saw several Elegance corals that were also exhibiting signs and symptoms. If any other WAMAS members wanna contribute, go over with a digital camera to take pix for Eric and try to get info on origins from the Roozen's people. Maybe they might give a d**n and send the dying ones to Eric.

Problem is most "sellers" won't admit the specimen is dying :(

Eric is out for awhile, but let me know when you are sending and i'll pick up some dying ones from the big "R" to ship at the same time.

If he wants stuff formaldehyde fixed, I can help out on that front.  Thus the samples don't need to be sent in salt water.  The 95% grain alchohol works OK, but the histology is much better with formaldehyde.  I have other fixatives here at lab as well....

I was hoping we could also do a member cash contribution in the clubs name.

Who's in?

I'll start off by putting $20 in the pot! [td]

Is this to pick up some of the ones from Roozen's?  I'll throw in $20.  Logistics?  Can we use the club paypal to make the contribution?  Heck, I can hand deliver them on March 12th, as I will be meeting him then down in Houston.

I'll throw down 20 bucks also.

Thanks for the offer to hand deliver, Mr President. :)

I am not so sure my elegance can wait until March though.

I worry about my elegance's current rate of decline and future condition in a week or two, but I guess I would have no choice if Eric is away.

Anyways, I emailed the man so I will see what he wants done.

Anyone else on board, or has the entire DC area(except for me) avoided elegance corals like the plague?

I have been hunting a quality specimen for quite awhile, but with my tanks in current "dis-repair", I had to pass on the only one I wanted to buy in years.

It is nice to make it to the West Coast on occassion :)
