Guest Keyoke October 25, 2005 October 25, 2005 Had my first pump failure - I've got two Mag pumps sitting in my sump providing return back to the display tank - a Mag-5 and Mag-3.. the Mag-5 finally siezed on me today.. Not bad for a pump that I purchased in 1996 Mag-3 was bought at the same time, so I'm sure it's about ready to give out... I needed to upgrade to a 5 & 7 anyway.. thank god I got two of 'em!
Lee Stearns October 25, 2005 October 25, 2005 The mags have some problems restarting after power is off- and they can be easily cleaned and might be put back in service.
JMsAquarium October 25, 2005 October 25, 2005 Thanks for posting this. It seems that setting up 2 return pumps VS only one is a good call. Another option is, for those running a close loop, 1 return pump aand a close loop pump. Bottom line seems to be that 2 pumps is good insurance.
