WHAT'S NEW?

A few new fish in this week including a couple Black Blennies, a Blue Face Canary Fangblenny, a Blue Jaw Trigger, lots of Dwarf Angels, a Mimic Tang, Carpenters Flasher Wrasse, Green Chromis and some Blue Reef Chromis.

Some nice corals arrived this week including a couple brightly colored Acropora's, some Pearl corals, orange Plate corals, lots of Green Star Polyps, bright green Open Brains, Black Sun Corals, more Mushrooms and Zoanthids and lots more.

Maiden's Hair is back in stock as well as some other macroalgaes on rocks. We have some bunches of Chaetomorpha available as well. Chaeto is great for refugiums or even in your main tank to help keep down nitrates. We even got in some captive bred Green Abalone Snails which are great for eating a variety of nuisance algae's. We also got in a new shipment of Fiji and Tonga Live Rock.

For those of you who did not receive last weeks newsletter, we have some new dry goods in stock which include the AquaLight Power Center power strip. This newer version has two timers which will control your Actinics, Daylights, and even Lunar Lights all on one power strip! This will help avoid bulky timers taking up multiple outlets. The Power Center even has one outlet that is constantly on so you can plug in a digital thermometer, heater or anything you think of. The 320 and 450 Micro Jet power heads are new on our shelves. These are great for those who have nano-reefs and want small power heads with adjustable flow rates. Visi-Therm Stealth 25 watt heaters are a new shatter-proof thermal plastic, so no need to worry about your glass heater breaking in your tank. We have a few newly released Current USA Prime-Chillers in 1/10 hp and 1/4 hp. Pick one up for your tank to keep the temperature stable. For those do-it-yourselfers, we have a Halide retro kit of a 150 watt halide and 2 x 65 watt PC. We even have the Current USA Orbit 4 x 96 watt PC lighting system. This is an upgraded version of the 4 x 65 watt unit giving you 124 extra watts of light. Both Orbit units include stands, lunar lights, internal ballasts and cooling fans. They are an easy way to add reef lighting to any tank! We even have some new Hikari frozen foods in stock including the Mega-Marine Algae, Mega-Marine and Spirulina Brine Shrimp so you can keep you fish happy with a variety of foods.

WHAT'S ON SALE!

All Mushrooms and Zoanthids are on sale including a large selection at $10 - $15 off! Mushrooms and Zoanthids are a great filler for any tank. They don't require the very high lighting that most other corals need and prefer a low current placement. Shrooms and Zo's multiply fairly fast and add a great splash of color to any reef tank! They come in an assortment of styles and bright colors such as oranges, greens, pinks, blues, reds, yellows, striped, spotted and more!

A large assortment of corals are up to 50% off. Corals include Acropora's, Brains, Bubbles, Trumpets, Leathers and much more. Just look for the sale stickers on the tags for each coral to find out how much you'll save!

Kent Garlic Xtreme and Seachem Garlic Guard are 10% off. Garlic is a great food additive which entices fish to eat a wider variety of foods and provides a slime coat protection against external parasites.

All T5 retro units are 10% off. These are really neat retros because they are very slender and once the bulb expires or it is time to be replaced, all you have to do is throw away the unit and buy a new one. They come in various sizes and wattages.

DID YOU KNOW?

As the seasons start changing, temperature fluctuations start to become a problem. This is about the time ich outbreaks become prevalent. The best way to ensure that the tank water is heated correctly is to have two heaters that are about three to five watts per gallon. The reason behind having two heaters is that if one stops working, you have another as a backup. It is important to have a reliable thermometer that displays the temperature accurately. A floating thermometer is better than one that sticks to the outside of the glass. There are even digital thermometers which work great and are easily read at a glance. Cooling the tank is a completely different problem that usually involves getting a chiller. A good way to help prevent ich from occurring is to make sure that the heaters and/or chiller are working properly since they most likely will have to start working a lot more now. Dosing garlic both in the tank and in the fishes
