Its a moorish idol. Haven't seen it locally. Suppose to be hard to keep.

Moorish Idle is what it looks like!

Unfortunately, with most people try to put it into a non-established tank and that is what they end up with....dead picture of a difficult fish to raise.

MY RECOMMENDATION: Go for a Black/White Henichus.

AWESOME FISH, A Ton easier to take care of and unless you didn't have them side by side, most folks wouldn't know the difference!!!

Saw 1 at the Reef Tank last Friday.

they are primarily sponge eaters which is why they do not do well in captivity- I have had them when I used to live in Hawaii- if you can get one eating they will do ok- but there are few that make the transition as adults from wild to aquarium.

thats the fish from finding nemo!personaly i dont think they look that cool...but thats just me.

i also heard they are hard to keep even when eating and doing well still usually die with in a year and if you go with the heniochus there are to diferent kinds one is reef safe one is not i forget whihc is which biut the way to tell is on one the middle blck stripe stops even with the bottom fin and the othere it goes past it ill try and find whihc is whihc again

My rule of thumb is that if you can't identify it, you probably shouldn't be looking to buy and keep it, as you probably haven't done enough background research on its care yet. Sorry if it sounds snobby, but I think that really holds true for Moorish Idols.. definitely not for beginners, and some would argue, not a good fish to keep in captivity period.

Thanks for all your input... This friend of mine was trying to setup a fish/anemone export business from India and this is one of the pictures that he sent me ( I guess to spark my interest) to get me involved.
