Guest dylanirion June 12, 2005 Share June 12, 2005 Just starting to accumulate all the pieces I need to get a tank up, hope to be started in a couple weeks. Few questions regarding sand: Anyone have any surplus southdown left over for sale? Anyone know if The Reef Tank has any in? Anyone willing to donate a cup of their sand for seeding? I'm in the Silver Spring area. Thanks in advance Dylan

Guest mkprice June 13, 2005 Share June 13, 2005 It might be a bit far but the Southern States in Manassas usually has it in stock. Michele
Guest mikesroth June 13, 2005 Share June 13, 2005 You might want to do the 'Vinegar' test on that Walmart sand. That looks like what they had last year, and that did not pass the test at all. Now that doesn't mean that they didn't change suppliers and are good now. I just know it wasn't the same stuff as Southdown, last season. You might also want to check Ace Hardware if you have one near you. One by me was carrying the Yardright stuff by the end of the season.
