Guest tgallo September 8, 2003 September 8, 2003 well the other nite i went down stairs to mix kalk for the tank, the nightly dripping routine so i grbbed my plastic spoon to get a couple of spoonfulls out of the jug and like a dope, the spoon sprung backwards and shot a mound of kalk powder in my eye's. all i can say is HOLY MOLY i thought getting shocked at work hurt but when the kalk powder hit i was blinded, my eyes started to burn severly i couldent see anything i stubbled upstairs and started to stick my head under the tap to rinse them out, after 15 minutes of rinsing i could finally see but really blury, my eyes were blood shot red and burnt after a half hour the pain subsided some but the kalk powder turned to paste and my eye lids were swollen and felt like sand paper. from now on i wear safety glasses and a mask , and i thru away the plastic flexible spoon.
Gatortailale September 9, 2003 September 9, 2003 Tony, Glad to hear you are better now. Sorry you had to experience this. Thanks for sharing your lesson with us.
michaelg September 9, 2003 September 9, 2003 those disposable mouth/nose masks probably aren't a bad idea at all. I can frequently "smell" the powder after scooping some. I use a cool aid scooping cup though, so haven't shot it into my eyes! OW!
JMsAquarium September 9, 2003 September 9, 2003 Wow!!! Glad to hear you are all right mate. Thanks for the warning.
