Ok, so after having setup my system I'm realizing it would have been good to have done one or two things FIRST to eliminate the problem of having junk on the surface that I can't get off.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do at this point to eleviate the problem? Any mods/retrofits/changes I can make to the exisiting setup to get this scum off of my surface easily?

Hey man, I did the overflow mod to my cube with everything in it. I put a paper towel on the water to catch the platic as i cut it. I think i use a saw blade or something and cut slots in the plastic. Here are pics of the final product. Works great. I put a small cut piece of clear plastic over the top intake to get more flow over the teeth.

let me know if you have any questions. I have been running the cube over a year like this now.

How did you attch the piece of plastic over the intake with water still in it? Drain it down and attach, or...?

Well the water is still getting sucked through it so it gets sucked up against it. Nothing is holding it on except the suction. When I do a water changes, sometimes it releases. No biggy.
