RicSG July 18, 2010 July 18, 2010 I have a year and half old Typhoon III that I use for RO (drinking water) and the RO/DI for my reef I tested my TDS and noticed it had gone very high like 40-50 at times so I started looking at replacement filters While going through it I noticed that my DI Bypass was in the OPEN position. I don't know when that was changed so I ran a cleanup by leaving that in open and also changing the Fast Flush to OPEN. the RO and RO/DI left in CLOSED. I ran this for 15 minutes to purge the system. Then I changed to the pure water RO/DI system by keeping the following positions which is what it will stay at for RO/DI use DI BYpass -CLOSED Fast Flush - CLOSED RO - CLOSED RO/DI -OPEN I let it run for about roughly 1.5 hours which I disposed off. I tested this water and it has 18 TDS on the reading I then tested the RO only by going to DI Bypass - CLOSED FF - CLOSED RO - OPEN RO/DI - CLOSED and my reading for the TDS is about 10 so I am confused why the RO is more pure than the RO/DI I have no idea how long my system has been running with the DI Bypass in the wrong (OPEN) position. But its been corrected now. It was defintely in the right position about 4-5 months ago cause my readings were all near 1-3 for the RO/DI Any ideas on what I should do ? Thanks
davelin315 July 19, 2010 July 19, 2010 I wonder if something spoiled the DI chamber in that time? Perhaps it dried out completely (I think it has to remain wet, not sure but know that I have never had it go completely dry) or has been colonized by bacteria or other. Otherwise I'd simply say that it's reached its capacity, although that doesn't sound exactly right considering your circumstances.
