So far, i like how ur starting. What kind of filtration are u planning on using for it?

Do you plan on keeping corals? If so how deep is your aquarium? Live rock can be kept under normal flourescent lights, or even no light. Hope you enjoy your new tank :D

The filter i chose is probably one that most people wouldnt choose for a reef aquarium, an Emperor 400 filter with black and white diamonds in the media port, my one friend has had a reef tank for 5 years and he has an emperor 330.  The tank is about 21 inches deep and i am planing on having coral and lastly the light im lookin at is the 2x96w Sealife compact flouresent.

if u cant get the pic look in the gallery
For simplicity on lighting, a single 175 or 250W halide would suffice nicely.

With high quality live rock and live sand, you don't need any additional filtration.  During the cycle, you should probably use a little carbon and a lot of water changes.  Once things are established, the LR and LS will do all the filtration you need.  How deep is your sand?

I'd highly recommend MH for you lighting.  PCs are fine, but ifyou eventually want to keep SPS coral, you will most likely want to upgrade.  Eat the cost up front if you can.  A DIY MH setup can be done for ~$150 w/ a 10K lamp.
