Happy New Year Hobbyists,

NEW GEAR for the NEW YEAR

We have a great selection of new items including Tropic Marin Pro Reef

Salt, books, Eheim-Jager heaters, mini heaters for small tanks and a

chiller for smaller tanks, cabinetry touch-up kits, and fan kits.  Also

new are Lunar Lights and links which are great for adding a little light

for viewing night activity, and Seachem Renew which is a phosphate free

carbon substitute.  If you are still having problems getting some of

your fish to eat prepared foods and even garlic isn't helping try out

our new Seachem Entice, a scent and flavor enhancer for those finicky

eaters.  Stop by this weekend and check out all our new items.

WHAT'S ON SALE

We are overstocked on lots of corals so we are having a coral sale up to

25% off!  Corals included in this sale are Orange Zooanthids, Tooth

Corals, Pearl Corals, Favia Brains, Frogspawn, Toadstool and Speckled

leathers, Fire Corals, Porites and Sun corals.  Make sure to stop in

this weekend and pick up those corals that you have been wanting.

Visi-Therm heaters are also 10% off to help combat the cold weather.

DISPLAY RAFFLE

Congratulations Jennifer T. on winning our 12 gallon display.  Come in

and check out our new CPR 6-gallon counter display, available as a full

kit or as a tank and lighting set.

DID YOU KNOW?

As the seasons start changing, temperature fluctuations start to become

a problem.  This is about the time Ich outbreaks become prevalent.  The

best way to ensure that the tank water is heated correctly is to have

two heaters that are about three to five watts per gallon.  The reason

behind having two heaters is that if one stops working, you have another

as a backup.  It is important to have a reliable thermometer that

displays the temperature accurately.  A floating thermometer is better

than one that sticks to the outside of the glass.  Cooling the tank is a

completely different problem that usually involves getting a chiller.  A

good way to help prevent Ich from occurring is to make sure that the

heaters and/or chiller are working properly since they most likely will

have to start working a lot more now.  Dosing garlic both in the tank

and in the fishes' food is another good way to help prevent Ich

outbreaks.  If the fish do end up getting Ich as the weather gets

colder, we have a few medications that can work on getting rid of the

Ich as well as some good tips on a course of treatment on getting your

fish healthy again.

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend!
