Greetings to all,

We still have weekend positions open for any hobbyists or aspiring

hobbyists who would like to learn more.  Don't exclude yourself based on

experience, we will train.  This part time position is also ideal for

students who want to make extra spending money but don't want to give up

all of their spare time.  If your interested, bring in your work history

or a resume.  If you have any questions about the position give us a

call or drop us an e-mail.

WHAT'S NEW

New fish faces in the store include; the Harlequin Bass (

http://www.marinescene.com/detail.asp?id=2756 )Seven Banded Wrasse and

the Brazilian Royal Gramma.  The Harlequin Bass has a fancy black and

white pattern.  The Gramma looks like the standard Royal Gramma except

his mouth is shaped a little differently and the color of his tail is

closer to orange than the usual yellow. The Wrasse is a rare find with a

lot of personality. Other interesting fish now in stock are the tiger

goby and the Rosy Blenny. These little guys are difficult to find and do

very well in nano reefs.  We have an extra large red Finger sponge

available.  This sponge would make a great addition to a large reef.

Last but not least I need to mention all the new corals in the store.

We received not one, but two coral shipments this week.  We currently

have a nice variety of corals.  Amongst the new comers you will see

multi-colored Hammer corals, Long Tentacle Plate corals, a green Pipe

Organ, and my favorite a large pink Stylophora.

WHAT'S ON SALE

If you haven't checked out our little library you may be missing a few

new additions.  All books are 10% off this weekend.  Several corals will

be marked down this weekend.  Keep your eyes open for these good deals.

Many of our Lobophyllia corals are 20% off.  Take 10% off a variety of

other corals including a couple of Meat corals, a nice Fire coral and a

Sea Plume.

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that corals can "fight" with each other?  Most corals have

some means of aggression and or defense.  Several large polyp stony

corals are able to form "sweeper" tentacles that can reach up to a foot

away to sting a competing coral.  A few examples are Bubble, Galaxy, and

Brain corals. Hammer, Frogspawn and Torch corals are also very strong

stingers.  Soft corals such as leathers will secretly release toxic

compounds into the water around them to ward off encrusting or competing

corals. So the next time you purchase a coral be aware of it's

aggression level and place it in the tank accordingly.  Try to prevent

corals from touching each other.  As you well know, we all need our own

personal space. Is your reef tank really a coral battle ground?

I'm looking forward to a sunny weekend.  If you plan to stop by on

Sunday, be aware that the repaving of the parking lot will be taking

place and you will not be able to park directly in front of the shop.

Enjoy the weather and don't forget about MOM on Sunday, gift

certificates make great gifts and so do corals and fish and shrimp and

crabs and snails and sponges and anemones and............. :) Have a

good one.
