m3fan8ic August 17, 2009 August 17, 2009 I wanted to see if anyone here had any expierence with Beghia and how did that worked out for aiptasia. I am thinking about this last option. http://www.berghia.net/marketprice.html
DJBoy98 August 17, 2009 August 17, 2009 I bought 2 for my frag tank and 2 weeks later, MIA and still aptasia on the same rock I dropped them in. Copperbanded Butterfly is the only fish I seen so far that has eaten them. I have tried Peppermint Shrimps but then they also become MIA.
davelin315 August 17, 2009 August 17, 2009 I got them from there and they are aiptasia killing machines. They eat nothing but aiptasia and will eat any size of it. The only problem is that you're essentially creating a species tank for them and they need it to be calm. I wouldn't just drop them into a tank as they are also going to be eaten by the fish or sucked into pumps. When I had them I cycled rock into a separate container that they were in and let them eat the aiptasia and then I'd make sure they were off the rock before I put it back in. As they were eating they were also laying eggs, so theoretically the eggs were hatching in the tank and the babies were eating the aiptasia in the tank as well. That said, it wasn't so easy to accomplish that portion of it for me, although I do know that they did hatch and do their job in a nano I had as one day I noticed that there were no aiptasia in the tank any longer. My issue was maintaining a healthy species tank for them - I added a piece of rock with a leather coral on it and the leather went south and killed off all of my berghias. My suggestion is to get the berghias and be patient with them (it'll take months to get them to tackle most of your stuff) and then when they are running out of aiptasia you can add the other aiptasia eaters - peppermint shrimp and copperbands. If you do this before, they'll eat the berghias, too.
