Dell2go July 11, 2009 Share July 11, 2009 (edited) Well, I ordered a GS2 from Dan. This is the new cone skimmer, model GS2, from GSA. Today I started running a vinegar bath. And here are some pictures I took. I ran with 2 Sicce pumps. This is 5 min. later. Pic of the body And a close up of the body. PS: Dan did throw in all the extra set of parts for the 2nd pumps for free. Thanks Dan. Edited July 11, 2009 by Dell2go

Nate July 11, 2009 Share July 11, 2009 What is the benefit of breaking skimmers in with a vinegar bath? Is it straight vinegar or is it mixed with water?
Boret July 11, 2009 Share July 11, 2009 Are you using the Pin Wheel, the Mesh Wheel or the ATI Pink Pin Wheel?
lhcorals July 11, 2009 Share July 11, 2009 What is the benefit of breaking skimmers in with a vinegar bath? Is it straight vinegar or is it mixed with water? It just helps break down any residue that is left behind. Its best to do this with all skimmers.

Dell2go July 11, 2009 Author Share July 11, 2009 Looks great..what is the foot print with the two Sicce pumps on it? Thanks.. I'll measure it today. Nate: I had the same question too. According Dan, "This is to remove any residual oils from the machining process. All sorts of release agents are used when manufacturing plastics, they are mostly oil based and can be removed quite easily with vinegar bath. This should be considered standard procedure for anything that you buy (even new) and put in your tank." Boret: I am using the mesh wheel. The pump comes from my ATI BM 250. Lynn is right. Dell2go July 11, 2009 Author Share July 11, 2009 Sorry Nate, I missed part of your question. That's 5 gallons vinegar and 1-2 gallons of water. I am pretty sure you can do 1 to 1 ratio. I just wanted to be on the safe side.
