Guest JFish April 6, 2003 April 6, 2003 I went up to maryland today because my sister basically kicked me out of the house for a few hours. First I went to Aquarium Center and got some plants for my freshwater setup and then I went to Exotic Aquatics. When I got there the place was closed down...they had a sign saying where the new place was and some sheets under a paper weight giving directions and $5 off first purchase coupon. The new store is two exits down on 695. exit 30 instead of the previos 32. Once you get on there is a shopping center on your right and it's near the Safeway. The new place was awesome...I was lucky enough that they just opened for the first time today. The place is very clean and open looking. When you walk in they have their 180 gallon display in the window (I think that's the size) but it isn't setup again yet. Then they have a drygoods section with the counter on the right. All of the fish tanks are in the back. They have a few rows of fresh and a few of salt. You could tell they just opened because the wood stands that all of the fish tanks are on still smells freshly cut. The Coolest thing I saw was their Coral section. If anyone has been to the old store you know they had a huge tank for SPS corals. Now they have 4 of them! I bought 3 of those cool blue eyed cardinals and left. I think you should all check it out sometime soon...It is a REALLY nice looking place.
AquariaUSA April 7, 2003 April 7, 2003 The tank they have in the window is the old perfecto 265 gallon, which should be back up in a month or so. They have added so many new tanks (they ordered an entire AGA truckload), and plan on stocking all four of the 180 gallon systems with SPS only, in addition to their large invert section. I have not seen retailers on the east coast go this route in a long time, and it should really be impressive when they get the stock levels up. I think they have 5-6 large rubbermaid tubs for live rock in the back as well. And those ceilings make the store look gigantic!
Guest JFish April 7, 2003 April 7, 2003 I was really impressed by the generally large size of the holding tanks for fish as well. They incorporated 125 gallon tanks among 40 gallon and 75 gallon tanks...they have the right size tank for just about any fish they can get in... and you're right the large ceiling makes it look huge...I talked to them and they said the place was about the same size though...high ceilings make a big difference.
