Hydnophora sending out sweeper of some sort to try to sting my gorgonian.  It did the same thing about 2 months ago and nuked the base of my orange montipora.

Anyone ever see anything like this?

 

In one of the pictures after the hydro. pic. you can see the full colony in a tank shot.

That looks exactly like what I have seen from mine- fortunately, he tried to do it to the heliopora (blue ridge coral), and it had zero affect on it.  When I have seen it on several occassions, it has looked like it puts them out from the underside of the coral.  Your photo is a great example of how deliberate those sweepers are- they wrap up the victim in a web of toxin.
