zotzer November 12, 2007 Author Share November 12, 2007 Dosing baking soda (2 tsp in a quart of top-off water every-other day), I've been able to boost my alk up to 4.25 meq/l, while holding daylight pH steady at 8.2. I read that pH is the biggest concern when dosing un-baked baking soda, which is why I've been keeping track of those two numbers in particular. Seems like I have found a happy medium, but will make sure to recheck calcium here in another day or so as well. Heaven knows, this seems to be a much more economical solution (and seems to work better, at least for my tank) than dosing two-part!
