i'm trying to take pictures with my digital camera, but they are very washed out with the main lights on. any tips? or is this just an angle thing?

i've tried playing with the white balance... but my color representation is just way off.

any advice would be awesome.

i have a panasonic DMC-LZ2

I have the same camera. You should work with it on a manual settings. Choose macro setting. Forst, out something white in the tank and choose "set white ballance", then set it on that white. Then choose exposure time and set it to shorter exposure. try again. Use tripod. Works for me.
