Connor April 25, 2007 Author April 25, 2007 i agree im a bet risky also in my nano my anemone was the first thing i got and its been doing great it did get sick for a while because i had to split it up from my clown fish, i dont know if anemones can get depressed but that was the impression i was getting cause after about 2 weeks it started to get better again. I was also thinking when i added my rock before all of my live stock i would take one of my mushrooms with my clean up crew and put that in their just to see how it does before i start adding my other corals. i actually dont have any fish from my ten to put in it right now because for some reason the clown fish ive been getting have died ive gotten 4 now after my original that have all gone belly up. Its really weird because all of my chemical levels have been level and my salinity has been right were its supposed to be so i was stomped on that. I was also going to go to the brk social so i was planning on picking up some corals their for my new tank. Ill be holding them in my nano in the time being until my 30g is stable and ready.
Connor April 26, 2007 Author April 26, 2007 hey i was wondering if i could get some advice on skimmers. I'm about to set up my 30g (still got a week or 2 before adding live stock) and i was looking for some advice on protein skimmers and what kind would be good for a 30g. i dont know if this affects the skimmer decesion but i am planning on making it a reef aquarium.
Connor May 4, 2007 Author May 4, 2007 hey ive had my tank up and running for 2 weeks and ive moved some liverock over from my nano and got a few pieces from a store near my house the only problem is ive bin noticing that some of the sand on the bottom of my tank is getting brown is this a problem or is it nothing to worry about
Rascal May 4, 2007 May 4, 2007 If it is a brown film-like algae you are seing it could be diatoms. A certain amount of diatom growth is normal in a new tank and shouldn't be anything to worry about. Just make sure your water is clean and you've got good flow, a variety of cleaning critters, etc. . . . Speaking of clean water, have you had any luck in your skimmer search yet? Maybe someone with a successful 30-45 gallon tank could give you some advice on what works for them. The only thing I can think of would be to look for quality skimmers rated for about 125G. If you are planning on making this an SPS tank, you don't want to skimp on a skimmer. You will only end up dissatisfied and wanting to upgrade later, anyway.
Connor May 4, 2007 Author May 4, 2007 thank still no news on the skimmer though ive been doing some looking but i havent been able to find anything that will work for my tank. Everywhere i go is either out of stock or they dont have what i want so it i guess its just a matter of time
