miracle mud vs. live sand

in the blue corner, weighing in at 5 lbs, wearing the clear, plastic bag is miracle mud!

 

in the red corner, weighing in at whatever you have at the bottom of your tank, wearing nothing but its birthday suit, live sand!

 

ding, ding, ding!!!

 

i wanted to get every1's take on the two. if you were to start a refugium, whether it be hot or what have you, would you be more inclined to using the mud or you own sand? ecosystem pumps up their own product, but can you blame them? they're trying to make a sell! is it really as beneficial as they claim? on the hand, you have your own live sand, from your own system, w/ all the goodies from YOUR little ecosystem.
