National Zoo Coral tank

We finally have a date set for the WAMAS Social Event at the National Zoo.  The date is Saturday June 14th, around 6:00.  We will have the invertebrate house to ourselves, Food and Beverages provided, and there will be ample parking.  This is a great event to bring the family to and share the wonders of the spineless world- Tamie will open up the "touch tanks" for the kids in the back area, and there will be feeding demos.  Most importantly, you will get a chance to see the large scale project of the Coral Tank that WAMAS is going to help re-build and re-stock.  If you've ever wanted to see what goes into setting up a BIG tank, this is your chance.  For those few fortunate ones that already have large systems, please share your experience to help make sure this is done right.  We need your help in this endeavor if it is going to be a sucess!  Please note, this event a private event for Members Only and their families.

The first is a Social Event at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington D.C. this Saturday, June 14th from 6pm until about 8pm.  This event has been made possible by one of our members who is a specialist at the Invertebrate exhibit (we have the whole place to ourselves "after hours".  This is the

exhibit with the coral tanks, anenomes, and giant octopus.  Feeding demonstrations will take place, and families are encouraged to attend- especially the children who will be allowed access to the "touch tank". Food and beverages will also be provided.  Additionally, you will have a chance

to look at the Coral exhibit that WAMAS hopes to become closely involved with in helping to setup as well as stock with club generated captive frags of corals.  There will be ample parking available.
